For the lifted in the front 3 inches

I've got the eibach/toytec 3" lift coils and bilstien 5100 adjustable's up front 9 wrap lc coils with a pan hard drop bracket. Lately I've been hearing a pop sound from the suspension when I'm stopped and turn the wheels to make a left or right and accelerate fairly fast on a busy street. Anyone else have this sound? It's sounds like it's coming from the front. I figure tomorrow morning I'll get under the truck and see if anything is loose as far as bolts. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. By the way I have my sway bars removed on the front and rear if that makes a difference.

Possibly a CV. Possibly something else. You're really pushing the suspension to its limit with lifting the front 3". Check everything over, especially your Ball Joints, to make sure everything is in proper working order. Remember, the suspension wasn't made to ride around like that at those angles as a regular setup.

Check your sway bar links, when you're pulling at a crazy angle ie. lift + steering, there's a possibility of popping out washers... I've had that happen

Are you turning really Sharp like cranking the wheel till its max and rubbing or.binding the front or regular turning? Can you recreate the problem by turning the wheel back and forth just sitting? Also does it do it at all when slow acceleration or just lead footing it?

Find a parking lot and do circles slowly in reverse with the steering all the way to one side and then the other. If it pops when you do that, there's a good chance it's your CVs.

I have the same issue - running my fox CO's at close to 3". 9.25 wrap LC coils too...

Seems like just when I turn right and hammer on it I hear a small 'pop' - but then again, it isn't all the time.

I crawled under the truck a half dozen times and tightened everything up - still happens.

Could it be the drive shaft tapping the gas tank skid? My junk flexes / rolls like mad when I dive it in a corner (no swaybars such as OP) and so it makes me wonder how much the drive shaft moves side to side when it torques...

Really, this one has me puzzled too. I don' think it's the CV's but I'll do some reverse driving in my cul-de-sac.

I works love to know what this is too as I have the "popping" noise too. Kinda sounds like a large spring that slipped and pops out. I too have gotten under and looked all around and see nothing odd (of course I'll be the first to admit I'm no mechanic). My sway bar is hooked up with brand new links. This only seems to happen on tight corners or driving over the sidewalk "hump" one wheel at a time (like rolling one tire up on a 6" rock). I don't have a diff drop in yet, but I'm only pushing 2.5" lift in front.

The noise has been going on since I installed the lift.

I'll give that a try, I have some cracking in my CV boot so it may be quite possible it's my CV's

I was thinking it may be the drive shaft but it's when the wheels are about 80-90% cranked. It's almost like the weight of the car with out the sway bars is pulling up and extending something then popping back. It's definitely a metal sound.

And it's definitely more noticeable under load - I was trying to make it happen and it was only significant when I was stopped on a hill, accelerated and turned left at the same time, mid turn, a solid 'pop'.

From stop on level ground, with hard acceleration and cornering (such as turning right at a 4-way) it barely does it / doesn't at all.

Sounds like mid to front of the 'Runner - I am gonna rig up a mount for my go-pro I think...

I'm not rubbing at all. If I was to fully crank the wheel left or right at a dead stop and then hit the gas to mimic cutting in front of someone on a busy street I would almost guarantee the pop sound. It's typically happening with the wheel being cranked 80-90%, so not at full. If i sit in the car and crank hard left then hard right stopped I get nothing.

I'm beginning to think it's my ball joints more and more. I'll have to try what brian2sun suggested to rule out my CV's.

um i dont know where you figure that, but guys on here are running 3-3.5" and more of lift and its just fine... sure you might add a bit more wear on things like CVs but its not bad for the truck to lift it

Sounds can be deceiving where they are coming from. Did you keep the rubber jounce bumpers in the rear coils? They can shift without. Do you have a drawbar in your hitch? Do you have shackles hanging from recovery points?

I have the rubber cones in the rear still but I cut the tip section off. I do not have a drawbar and I don't have shackles. I'm headed out to a parking lot to re-create the sound.

mine did the same thing and it turned out to be a worn out lower control arm bushing and the lower control arm popping back and forth when i would stop or accelerate and also it rubs really bad on the inner fender now

Could very well be the LCA, I have no records from the previous owner regarding any replacement of LCA. And I have 176k so I should be doing that probably about 26k miles ago...
