Sweeping streets? Me...or them? I didn't put myself through 7 years of college to sweep the streets (or work on an assembly line). But if you'd like to do that, go right ahead.

BTW, the recession has officially been over since June 2009. Yup, more than a year ago. Unfortunately, unemployment is still way up and the housing market is still in the dumps, so a lot of people don't feel that the recession is over, but it is.

OK, so this reporter followed these people for how many days? Did anyone see a police officer anywhere in that report to cite/arrest anyone for: a) drinking in a public place [if there is a law on the books in that town banning that] b) smoking a joint / possessing marijuana and c) the most blatant - driving while impaired or intoxicated?

This reporter is just as negligent for not having the local PD on scene enforcing all laws before airing his expose, especially since DUI/DWI charges could've been brought against the drivers.

Well, the numbers don't lie....but still, a lot of people probably feel like the recession is far from over. Funny thing for me is that it never seemed at all like a recession in my area (NY) and I never really noticed anyone cutting back very much. The restaurants were packed all along, people were still buying new cars, etc...

I think California was hard hit, and Michigan was another state that got hit especially hard.

Agree. California can feel the pain in the R****. But i got a friend who work in the Restaurant at The Marriott Downtown (NY) he told me its a big different between then and now, He said has never seen it was this bad in the past 12 years.

That makes sense because business travel and tourism is definitely down. Still though, where I live nobody seems to have even raised an eyebrow throughout this extended recession. If I never watched/read the news, I wouldn't even know we were in a recession. I guess it all depends where you live....
