Has anyone take. Out their back glass on the sides and welded in sheet metal? I have been thinking about diong this for a while. This would certainly fix the lack of privacy if sleeping in the back. Esp with limo tint on the rear roll down window.

Or you could just put limo tint on the windows...? Or even a vinyl that could completely black them out...?

Piece of Diamond plate.

Back story is I was wheeling and laid her on her side.

Didn't want to spend the 400 for a new piece of glass, so got a piece of Diamond plate for 25 and welded it in there.

Realized that it was a good solution for when I have my tools and shit in there.

I'm going to do the other side, I just need to get another piece and find time.

Doesn't seem to be too much of that lately.

Myhighs solution is brilliant, easy, compact, cost me $4 and took about 10 minutes with a tin snip. Not to mention the color selections - white OR brown. These stow perfectly in the front seat rear pocket.

... what have you incorporated for ventilation and blinds?

For ventilation, I was planning to get some mesh screen and cut out shapes just slightly larger than each of the rear passenger windows; then I would glue magnetic strips on the edges which overlap the rear windows so I can just stick (via magnets) these mesh screens to the outside of the 4Runner, and thus, leave the both rear passenger windows down slightly for air (but no bugs) to get inside the vehicle... has anybody made anything similar?

For blinds, what have you done to keep out light when sleeping in the rear cargo area?

Go to hobby lobby get some little suction cups, some fabric and some Velcro. Make custom roll down window shades that you can leave affixed at the top of the window and roll up in the morning.

Everything past the B pillar is "limo black" Weather is so mild here.. the only time I had a condensation issue was when camping in November with 2 of us.. it was -8 or something so the windows ended up really condensated.

Cheapest privacy mod if you have rear tints is hang a flag clipped to the plastic trims at the top that meet the headliner at the B pillar with bulldog clips.

They're great! I can leave the windows down for air for my dogs AND it blocks the sun really well!

Now I'd like to find shades for the rear side windows, I'll probably just make my own.

I got some plastic window screen window material, nylon type cloth and a bunch of rare earth magnets(from a hobby store). I cut the mesh a bit bigger than the windows and the sunroof. Then sewed up the magnets in strips of the nylon type cloth in about 2 inch wide strips. Worked great for keeping mosquito's out and letting air in and out. Having the one for the sunroof was really nice because of how well it let all the hot air out. Only downside is had to get out of truck to put them up, which in the Great Dismal Swamp in Georgia? was annoying. Way too many mosquito's there to be out of the truck! But it did allow me to roll down the windows. I would see some dew on the cloth in the morning so have something that is somewhat waterproof so you can shake it off is good. They also roll up so I can shove them into the pockets in the doors in the backseats. I think I spent about 12-15 dollars on materials to make them.
