For those of you who's 4Runner is white

I have a white Limited with the silver flares and trim. I noticed after washing it and waxing it, that the paint on the hood was still rough and scratchy sounding. There was all kinds of grit stuck in the paint. I went to Pepboys and bought a Mother's Clay Bar kit for $17.00. It works great. Real simple to use and after you use it and wax it, the paint looks brighter and is smooth as glass. It is so smooth now if i set the towel on the hood, it slides off with out touching it. I highly reccomend it to any one with the same issue espcially if yours is white too.

ive got a white 4runner and through all the wrecks, most of the panels have been replaced and repainted except the drivers side front and rear door and the rear drivers side quarter panel, and the jackasses who painted it decided not to paint it to match the aged paint and they painted the brand new toyota natural white. and to make it worse they didnt blend any of it(supposidly my insurance didnt cover that).

anyways getting to the point, those 3 panels that weren't touched look like crap, i cant get any shine out of them, while the claybar does do wonders, your paint has to already be in good condition, and it does remove the contaminants and make it smooth. My complaint is that no one has been able to help me get the shine back on these 3 panels and ive tried everything, im bordering on a paint job then i just have to catch myself and say f-it just go with an 02' which is what ill probably end up doing and just dealing with the dull panels for another 6-12 months.

but yes the claybars work awesome!

Kinda the same issue here. One of my fenders was replaces and it looks completely different. It stands out from the door and hood. My 4runner looks bright white and the fender looks like plain cheap ass paint white.

that reminds me kregg, i saw a white 4runner like yours with the silver trim and he had painted all the silver to white to match the car, i was speechless, it looked sick as hell, i just kind of think that the white on silver is too stock.

have you considered painting your trim?

I used Car Brite Black Pearl #4 and it did wonders. First the pearl then a coat of Eagle One Nano wax. fantastic results and easy on the hands.

MUST MUST MUST.. wax after claying... it removes everything from your paint, including prior wax. Your paint is now unprotected from the elements if you didnt wax after.

Yeah I waxed after claying and damn my legs have never been so smooth. Ha ha jk. Yeah the kit even comes with a bottle of Carnuba wax. There is Limited at my work with the trim painted white and honestly to me it makes it look kinda cheap. But it also looks like a crappy paint job.
