For Those Of You With Nav...

I had nothing to do tonight so I decided to see what was going on at the clublexus.com board. I came across a way to program the navigaion while driving. The only downside is this method will only work on the 2005 navigation system and it has to be done every time you start the truck. The good part is it involves no disassembling or cutting wires. Basically what you have to do is go to the volume menu, then push the little speaker on the top left, push the bottom left corner of the screen, push the speaker again, and then push the bottom left of the screen again. After that, you will be in the service menu. What you want to do there is push the "override" button and hold down until it beeps. Then push the back button and you are all set to go. I have tried this on my truck and it actually works. It is very easy to do as well!

I like this mod, but I do think I will look into permanently grounding the park brake wire. so I don't have to reset it each time.

Hey this is the best part yet..... YOU CAN DO THIS "OVERRIDE" AT ANYTIME WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING!!!!" When I first read this post I was under the assumption that it had to be done everytime when you start the engine, but i just confirmed that it can be done at anytime reagardless!

I remember seeing that only works on early 4Runner NAVs. The later ones (2005+) can't not. Here's a sure fire way to (doesn't matter which "generation" NAV you have): Toyota 4Runner Factory Navigation Override and Unblock Bypass Module

I thought I had read it work on 2005 and later. but I must have misread it....as it does not work

I can access the setup menu, and the override button is there, but it doesn't do anything.


thanks for the link. that's a bit more then I would want to spend on it, but good to know there is a factory option out there.
