i found this website very helpful with making my wheel size decision. you can enter any information you want (wheels and tires) to see what will/will not fit. of course it would be most helpful if you know the specs for your needs.

btw, the stock 20x7" rims are +15mm offset with 4.6" BS

@ skel - thanks for your comments. to answer your questions my wheels are tpms compatible and any shop can easily transfer the sensors from the stock wheels (at no charge). also the 275/55 tires do not rub the suspension components or fender wells at all and i've taken my truck offroad a few times with no problems. the bigger wheels and tires weigh more than the stock so you'll need more power to get and keep these moving plus the wider footprint creates more friction/drag so you will lose some mpgs. the ride is as smooth as stock but you may have to play with the tire pressure to fine tune to your liking.

as far as my setup on your truck goes, imo it depends on how you envision your truck to look. if you want the street look i don't think these wheels will work, to me they are more of a rugged look. if you plan to keep the chrome accents on your truck i think you should look for a black rim with chrome on the lip or spokes.

in the end, it's like i said, it's how you envision your end product and what you want to do with it. that being said, i'm making my truck look mean with the intent of doing bad things and i'm making some upgrades and changes that will help me get to that goal. pics coming soon!!!!!!

physics says it will take more force to stop a larger mass from moving and i do feel that i step on the brake a bit earlier than when the truck was stock.

upgrades & changes!

@ skel - i drive fairly aggressive and don't monitor my mpg. i can only go by what is displayed on my instrument cluster which is 18.3mpg @ 17.7k miles driving a mix 50/50 city/hwy. i can understand your frustration with the 7" wide oem rim and lack of available tires and that's why i got rid of them as soon as i found the wheel i was looking for. one of the reasons why i said this wheel may not work for your truck is the gloss black paint on matte black wheels looks a bit weird imo, and also it may be too much black and why i suggested looking for a gloss black wheel with some chrome. but if you're not going for the street look after this winter i say get the this wheel. i think it looks great with the 5th gen styling! as far as installing an aftermarket lift, i do believe the only way to do that is to get rid of the xreas (unless you do a spacer lift as opposed to coilover). our LE aren't bad offroad when stock (except for the tires) and we have one feature that the TE owners don't (torsen differential) which was big for me.

that being said, in addition to the torsen differential i chose the LE trim for all of the features/luxuries the SR5 and TE trims do not have and LE owners can mod their trucks to make them perform exceptionally well offroad (see harper7) and i too am doing the same.

as i said in a previous post, my vision is to make my 4R mean with the intention of doing bad things and i'm getting closer to that with my recent mods. i blacked out most of the chrome accents, debadged, removed rocker panels, gutted and trashed xreas and sold my 275/55 hankook dynapros. just finished installing my ICON extended travel front COs, ICON UCAs, ICON rear coils and shocks, and slapped some 33" (295/55/20) nitto trail grapplers on my gauntlets! i love my 4R!!!!!

snow & Surf, prior to the lift could you run the spidertrax spacers with those wheels? I am asking because I would like to get those wheels but make them stick out a bit more. Then maybe do a lift down the road sometime.

thanks! i can't speak from experience because i haven't run spacers with these wheels but i don't see why you couldn't. as long as the spacers are made with the correct bolt circle pattern and have the longer bolt screws it should work, but you're better off getting a response from someone who uses spacers. my only concern would be the tire diameter you plan on getting because spacers can make the tires rub the inner fender liner at full wheel lock.

you can't tell from the pictures but the wheels stick out about 1" past the fender well. i'll try to take some pictures to show this better.

@ isitme? - great tire! really loved them but i knew the truck wouldn't look right with the lift and the Hankooks. they wouldn't fill out the fender well as much as i would like especially with the lift. at full lock the Hankooks were pretty close to the inner fender well liner with this wheel but it didn't rub. i don't know if the spacers would change that. the suspension is ICON stage 2.

Those tires look waaay better than the Hankooks. The width makes the difference. Lift looks sweet too, lets hope your able to put them to use.

@ kingpin - living in SoCal gives me plenty of opportunities to use them. other than upgrading the look that's the main reason why i made these changes. can't wait to hit the trails!

I really like your setup snow&surf. As a Limited owner, it's unfortunate that we have limited (yes pun intended) options for tires given the 7" rims. I'm not mechanically inclined so I'm worried about the rubbing, TPMS, and any other "common sense" areas that might not be listed in this thread! I have no idea what offset, backspacing, etc. is--I'm just "learning" these things now. Are the ride and gas mileage affected negatively with this setup in comparison to the stock setup?

I photoshopped your wheels/tires onto my rig as the first step in a potential mod. I like the look. Opinions? Any technical input is appreciated too. Thanks!

I haven't seen pictures of these wheels on anything, much less a 5G 4Runner.

N-fabs WILL fit the Limited/SR5's with the rocker panels removed.

Pretty sure he's building his Ltd. for serious offroading though and N-fabs are not strong enough and don't attach to the frame.
They attach to the body and won't support the weight of the truck like real sliders.

snow&surf, your 4R is gorgeous! I have an SR5 with stock wheels and Dunlop AT20's that I'm hoping to switch out before ski season starts -- any suggestions on a good set of tires? I literally have no experience in tire buying and all the online research I've done is not as reliable as I'd like.

thank you! tires really depend on what you plan to do and the driving conditions of your area. since you're in Oregon you may want something that has a good siping for all the rain you receive. if you want an aggressive all terrain tire that looks like a mud tire check out Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, they even have the snowflake symbol but are very expensive at least the size i was interested in. i believe SeattleMike is running these amongst others, see if they can give you their opinion.

clarification on my setup

hey all i just need to clarify that i sold my original gauntlets with the hankooks because the bs/offset (+18mm, 5.71") was an issue. see here for more detailed explanation (4th overall post down). i apologize if may have confused anyone.
