Formidable 2002 Sport Edition Thundercloud Metallic Build Thread

Love the build so far.

How are you liking the Toyo tires? Mostly looking at HWY performance an snow. Are those the 4ply? I am trying to decide on those or the BFG ko2.

And I see that you are in Seattle....GO HAWKS!

Thanks! Highway driving with the Toyo's is comfortable, low noise. Performance on icy roads and snow is adequate. These are just OK in my opinion. I had Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 2014. Those were awesome. Next set will probably be Nittos or BFG's.

Swapped clear corners in today. Also swapped the stock halogens for 921 Phillips LED bulbs. These are the same bulbs I have for my reverse lights. I compared these with 194 LED's. The 921's are much bigger, (just made it into the housing), and brighter. Tested them on the road to make sure they are not blinding. They pass. The chrome finish and beveled shape of the bulb are also a nice touch.

Put on a polished aluminum intake along with an outerwears prefilter that I had on my 2000. Forgot how obnoxious this makes the 4Runner sound under load.

I saw a rig like yours on Monday at Crossroads. Was that you? A bit of rear hatch damage? Good looking rig.

(FYI, I'd reduce the photo dimensions. It will make it significantly nicer to view and scroll through.)

Thanks! I'm around that area often. No hatch damage though.

I Dyno'd the 2.1" pulley at 242 rwhp. The 2.0" supercharger pulley probably gave it another 10 rwhp. Sold the truck before I could Dyno again. The URD crank pulley is similar to an intake or exhaust. Barely noticeable difference.

What effects did the pulley have on your 200? Benefits?

TRD headers arrived today. The headers come with a thin coating of some sort. This coating discolors over time and offers minimal insulation. Attached are pics of my current set and my old set coated by performance coatings in grey ice put on my 2000 sport. These looked brand new years after installation. My current set will be coated grey ice as well.

These headers are extremely difficult to find. This set is for the T100. The difference is the y pipe. In order for it to bolt up, I will need to buy the T100 single cat center pipe and modify it to bolt up to the TRD cat back. O2 sim from URD may be necessary.

love the retrofits cant wait to get a spare set of head lights to do mine already have the projectors and harness

did you see any difference with the trd headers

Small difference on my old 2000 sport with the TRD supercharger. The headers went on after the supercharger so I'm guessing NA probably not much. Sounds great though.

Trying to see if ARP has a set of stainless header studs and 12 point nuts for our application. Attached is a pic of these on the 1GR courtesy of Torsp at customtacos.

TRD exhaust installed. Slightly louder than stock. Nice rumble at idle. No drone with the extra resonator.

TRD headers are back from performance coatings with a fresh coat of 2000 degree satin grey ice. They did an excellent job as usual.

Order placed for ARP stainless head to exhaust manifold studs, TRD runner studs, and 12 point nuts... They have them for our application! Will update with part numbers after I see them in person and confirm that they will work for our trucks. The headers are such a pain in the ass to install, I do not want to mislead anyone.

I wanted a radiator beefier than stock. Went with the Champion three row all aluminum radiator. No plastic parts. Welds look decent.
