Forum response really slow lately ....

I hate to be the one to keep "complaining" although I'm not. I got a few of the server to busy messages again. It also gave me this page as if t4r.org was undergoing maintenance?

And it's still doing it. And it's insanely slow when it bothers to work at all. And somebody seems to think that closing threads about it will make it go away? Let's see if they close this one too.

Maybe we should all go invade Tacomaworld or ToyotaNation until the owner of this place figures out that we're the reason he gets ad revenue? Because I really am tired of it.
 
Don't make an assumption that I'm not aware of the issues and not dealing with it. I've spent weeks working with various consultants, offloading the database to another server, etc, etc, etc. We will be moving to a larger server in the coming weeks, stay tuned.
 
Help

New guy here. I'd post an introduction but the extreme slowness of this forum is very difficult. I ordered my new 4R back in December and it was delivered 4 months later (early April). Since finding this forum (5+ months ago), I've been checking in occasionally. I was excited to find this resource and hoping to participate but, every time I switch a page or topic or hit the "back" button, I have a 20+ second delay before the new page is loaded. Sometimes the current page freezes and never changes and I must close the site and begin anew. This forum always operates this way for me and it is most frustrating. No other forum/site on the web causes this type of difficulty on my laptop. Am I doing something wrong. Is there a fix?
 
Gents, please be patient, we are experimenting with a few things.

So far we've concluded that we were being hit by crawlers that are not search engines, so we blocked them and the server load should be much better now.

The 20 second delay on the back button is interesting, and may point to a problem in JavaScript. We'll review these.

Can anyone say that the site has been faster today than yesterday?

And please email us at info at toyota-4runner.org as soon as you notice the slowness, it will help a lot.

From the time when I hit the "post reply" button to make this response, 18 seconds elapsed prior to my being able to type this reply. Minimally better today but still very discouraging.
Also, is there an in depth tutorial available for the effective use of the advanced search function? My new 4R (about 500 miles) is producing excessive brake dust on the wheels. I tried to search for threads pertaining to brake dust as the exact phrase. I tried "brake dust" (using the quotation marks) and "brakes AND dust" (without the quotation marks) as these formats are required for the advanced search on other forums that I frequent. Either of those formatting attempts that I made resulted in all posts which included the terms "brake" and/or "dust'" Any suggestions for that issue?

40 seconds today

Thanks downpour. Much better results! Unfortunately, not much feedback about brake dust in the 5th generation forum.

Today I am experiencing a 40 second lapse after each page or function change when using this forum. I hate to complain but am frustrated at the prospect of being unable to participate here and utilize the cumulative experience of all the owners. I understand the "free hosting" nature of this site and that it is my choice as to whether my time is well spent waiting for whatever must load during each page or function change. Great resource.....
 
I will be honest, it is pretty frustrating for me to post on T4R.org and I am oftem responding to many posts on a given day in the 4th gen section and such. Its anywhere from 20seconds to 60+seconds on 3 different computers and 1 phone regularly. I have not had a single day where I am not wondering if my browser crashed trying to post a reply. Its 100% the website itself, because every other website works perfectly and its not a computer/IP issue since I am using computers at work, home, and friend's house as well as my Galaxy S2 and now my S4.

I'm being patient in hopes the issue will be fixed and have confidence in you guys will get this sorted out, I just can't remember the last time I didn't have to wait over 20 seconds for a post to go through. :(

Absolutely everything (every function that requires a click- posting, changing a page, replying to a post, creating a thread, retrieving PM's, etc., etc.) about this site results in a 20 to 60 second delay and has done so since I first accessed it. I don't pay for high speed internet with the understanding that some web sites will slow down their site navigation process to dial up speeds- or slower. My concern is that the time elapsed for site navigation might be to facilitate the gathering of every bit of information to the spam providers from its participants' computers. Either way, unless the problem is rectified, I cannot justify allowing this enormous waste of my time while waiting for the functions of the site to work. This consistent problem just doesn't occur on other websites. The most ironic aspect is that, often when someone makes an inquiry here, he is admonished/chided to utilize the search function. Right! Let's compound the frustration level of the person making the inquiry by subjecting him to additional, ponderous delays of site navigation. Again, I hate to bring sour grapes and would love to share in the accumulated knowledge base of the members here but won't willingly subject myself to the frustration. :hatsoff:
 
I'm eager to understand more. Note that the site is very spiffy for me, much fast than before.

First question, what browser are you using?
 
For what it's worth, I just used a third party tool that measures the site's load speed, and it reported a total time of just over 3 seconds to load the home page.
