FOX 2.0 coilovers

For those with the FOX 2.0 coilovers (that have not adjusted them) on their T4Rs. Could you please post a measurement or thread count of the exposed threads under the spring perch.
When I installed them I got a little over zealous. I turned them up a little too far. Obviously I wanted as much lift as I could out of them and was also planning a SSS Slimline bumper and winch and was anticipating its weight. Well The bumper and winch have yet to happen and I am getting tired of the harsh ride. Thanks in advance.

the preload on the coils won't affect the ride, thats how Fox's are. the only thing you'll gain by going lower is slightly less NVH due to lessened control arm angles
 
Upon removing the stock shocks from my 2013 they could manually be pulled in and out..... that gives you an idea of how soft the stock suspension is. I have an ICON but I can't imagine any quality suspension giving you a super soft ride. It's going to be a stiffer ride.

With too much preload, you may end up without enough down travel and topping out, which will produce poor ride quality.

The stock shocks are emulsion shocks, they are not pressurized with nitrogen like IFP or remote reservoir shocks (Icon, King, Radflo, etc). The pressurized nitrogen works like a spring pushing the shock to extend in these type of shocks. When you rebuild them, before pressurizing, they will behave like emulsion shocks where you can adjust their length by hand and it will stay at that position.

That wouldn't happen at his lift height unless he's hitting speed bumps at 60mph

The point I'm trying to make is that the coilovers use linear coils, the rate doesn't change the more they're compressed and a heavy preload won't affect ride quality, just lift height. If he has a bad ride, it's his impression of how race/ready Fox shox from Camburg ride.

Thank you all for the information. This is all very helpful. I guess based on this what I am feeling is the lack of down travel because they are up so high so there is no shock left. I am in no way looking for a factory smooth ride. That was ridiculous. Still curious what the Fox factory set them at.

Thank you for the picture. I count 36 threads exposed here and about 43 on mine. Almost an inch difference. About what I was thinking.
