Free 3rd gen lift gate struts

Just swapped out my lift gate (or whatever you call it) struts off the back of my 3rd gen. They work, but need help at the last 2" of travel.

Basically, they are better than nothing but not better than new ones. Perfect for free.

Which brand did you replace them with? I bought new ones, don't remember which off the top of my head, but they don't work very well in cold weather.
