Front axle seals leaking.

I have an 03 4runner that keeps leaking from the front axle seal. I have replaced the seal 3 times now. It was first worked on a shop in town where they replaced that axle and seal due to the cv boot being torn. Ever since then the damn thing has been leaking. I replaced one seal after that and then had a different mechanic replace it again. Still leaking. Only 74000 miles on the vehicle. Is this a pretty common problem? Need a little help figuring out what is wrong.

It shouldn't leak after proper install of the seal. I replace the seal on my 05 a few months ago and no more leaks. Make sure that the seal is installed to the proper depth. Too far in or not far enough and it may leak.

AND, the seals are different, left and right. I had to do mine 2 times to get the depth right.....

If you put in rebuilt CV axles they probably turned down the axle portion were the seal rides and it will never seal up---a new or properly sized rebuilt CV axle will fix this.------Dave
