front D ring mounts

Just finished up 5 sets that went out today.

How are guys mounting them in the rear? I got mine a few days ago and it finally stopped raining, but the bolts from the trailer hitch aren't long enough to screw into the welded nuts in the frame rail. The lower hole makes it, but the hole after the step up wont make it. Should I just get 2 new longer bolts? Anyone know the thread on them?

Got them on! I went to ACE and brought one of the smaller bolts, they had a thread checker to see exactly what the threads were. M12-1.5x50 are what I got, M12-1.5x40 are the shorter ones. I called the dealer and they wanted $5.50 a bolt, plus having to wait for them to be delivered ACE was $3.50.

Just recieved my order today. Quick shipping and good product. I managed to drop and chip paint off a corner within the first 30 seconds. I am curious though to how much torque everyone is using on installation?

Thanks for the review. I torque them down to 1/3 of a grunt when using a wrench! :)

Actually, for a 12mm high grade bolt, ~70 lb-ft is the recommended setting per Fastenal. However, I usually torque them down to about 80-85. I assume most people impact wrench them on or do the "it's tight enough" method.

What's the purpose of the step? Why not just keep it flat so both bolt lengths are the same?

Nice work by the way, these are nice.

The original hooks come with one having a spacer. That leaves us with two short and two long original bolts.

Also, the step allows for more metal prior to the hole for the D-Ring and is the main strength component of the mounts when pulled to recover a truck.

They are sprayed with 2 coats of primer and then spray painted with 3 coats of Krylon paint.

Got mine in a few days ago thank you!

I tried installing them tonight and when I try to install the long bolt from the drivers side, it seems like it's way too long, can't crank it in any further. Is this normal? Do I need to get a different bolt? Thank you

More than likely there is debris or something in the threads. I hope after our conversation it worked.

Got couple of sets out today and more ready to go. We are designing a 1st gen specific bracket also to compliment the Tacoma specific ones.
