Front dune flag mount

Hello everyone,

First post here. I am working towards getting a 2014 or 2015 4Runner, hopefully within the next month of so. I live in MI and currently drive an older Jeep Cherokee that is almost junkyard material at this point lol.

I'm trying to look online for a pre-fabbed bolt on ORV dune flag mount, that is removable when not used. I've seen a couple older 4Runners with this type of solution (under the stock bumper), however I haven't seen any 5th gens with this application.

Does anyone know where I can potentially order this or any leads to get one?

Thanks in advance.

Dune Flag

I could not figure out how to mount one without a custom front bumper.

I use a clamp on the roof rail that I found at a Pilot Truck Stop store in the antenna area. I use a 4 ft pole and my flag is 10 ft off the ground. (That's a 3 ft pole in my photo.)

I see the op is from Michigan. The last time I was at the dunes in silver lake Michigan it was required that the flag mount on the front bumper. Not sure if it is still the same or not.

Yeah the rules in Silver Lake dune area are the same. Trucks/SUVs need their flags mounted on the front of the vehicle. :/

I'd rather keep the factory bumper with some type of bracket.

I will also be needing this later in the year. I plan to hit silver lake for Memorial Day weekend when My wife and I are visiting home.

I will be taking delivery of my new 4Runner next week according to the dealer, so hopefully I can start looking at options for this requirement soon.

Whipped this up last year, made it out of a piece of 3/16 plate and two pieces of 1/8 angle iron. Ubolts to the factory tow point, and bolts into a factory threaded hole in the frame.

A family friend of ours fabbed one up for me last night! He said he would be open to producing more of people were interested!

The little metal "nub" was added since there's an opening in the support bracket that would provide some support in case the bracket starting to shift down. There's only one bolt holding it in place, but it's an extremely strong spot and it shouldn't go far with the aid of the bit of pipe.

If you'd like to see the part in more detail, just select the image.

Hey Hazards, any chance you or your friend have an extra mount available or would be willing to whip one up if the price is right? I’m headed to silver lake in two weeks and would love to have a mount.

Years ago when I was out that way, I just put the flag on my Wilso 5000 Magnetic CB antenna. Put it about twice as high as the (op) Mount.

This is what I ended up with, fabricated by one of the shops near Silverlake Dunes.

Top bolt is through the existing tiedown, bottom is outside, just clamps down. Drove around for a few hours, and the mount never moved.

Have not logged on in a while so I am sure you have something created by now, but figured I would post incase anyone had a question in the future.

I believe the shop was called Silver Lake Buggy Rentals, right across the road from Jellystone park/camp. Owner had a white 4th gen parked in front.

I never did get anything made but I may have a local fab shop whip one of these up for me.

Gonna be sweet if you take a digger with those tow hook mounts. Nice pole imprint down the front of your bumper.

Be better if yall made something that comes out of the grill. That way you can enjoy your truck without being ginger about approach angles.

I didn't want to cut up the grill to put up the flag. Not a lot of space to mount back there either.

Any reason you cant just mount it to some ditch light brackets? People mount CB antennas on there so I cant imagine itd be any different.

Grill insert would be cheaper then replacing your whole front cover because you decided to wheel with that thing hanging in front of your skid plate.

Maybe there is not space but, it's asking for trouble in that current spot.

Maybe look into the using a ditch light bracket. May or maynot be strong enough idk.
