Front Fender Removal?

Ya dude i live far from school too... i pour gas every 4 days at $50 a tank. I also have a daughter that were putting through daycare so i no wat u mean. SO the runner takes up all my free money that i dont have to use for other junk.

being in college and investing in things is a pain! i always pass up on deals b/c i always need to save the $$ for tuition and gas. HUGE pain. especially when ur money goes to nikes and ur 4runner...

Two hidden underneath where the running boards would be at the back of the wheel well. One between the door and fender a few inches below the side mirror. 3-4 obvious ones along the hood side. 1-2 below the corner light. That's off the top of my head so might be missing some. Let me edit up some of my pics from when I did mine....

Oh!! If you leave the door on when you pull the fender be careful with the tab for the bolt that was below the side mirror. That tab kept trying to bang up my door. I would put a thick layer of blue tape along the edge of your door near the tab. The fender section that sits under the corner light also liked trying to scrape up my headlight.

My Haynes manual says to remove the wheel first. Will there be enough room for the wheel housing splash shields to come off OK with the wheel still on? I don't have jack stands, and I just want to get the fender off to sand some rust off the bottom portions of it and repaint inside and around it.

Now is a good time to buy some jack stands. They are pretty necessary for maintenance work.


If you don't want to get jack stands, you could always slide the tire that you took off under the truck to act as a backup stand if your jack was to fail.

I am too lazy to take it off again, but, I was just in there yesterday and there is no tube, just a hole in the airbox on the fender side.

My 2000 had that stupid choke tube on it. The inlet is small and I'm sure it restricts the performance.
