Front leak

I thought to give a call to the dealership as well to ask for a quote, I told what was the issue and what work I wanted to be done but they told me that they would need to do an inspection first, for only $149 :twitch: and I said no thanks.

I found another shop nearby, quoted me $125-$150 per side (in case I want to replace both) so I'm going to go there instead.

You don't need a lot of tools and there is info everywhere online. If you don't have much mechanical experience, find a friend that does, buy him a case of beer, and fix something. Replacing a front diff seal seems hard because of all the stuff in the way. It's not! You have a bunch of simple tasks in front of another simple task. It might take you all day but you'll learn so much about your truck and gain confidence in it and your abilities.

I'm not dense. I get it's daunting the first time you consider disassembling yor $40k truck. My recommendation comes from years of watching people learn how to fix things and the satisfaction it brings. Either way - happy wheeling!

I totally agree with you, I also like to mess with things and I prefer to be the one to do a job so I know what exactly I am doing to the vehicle.

I watched some videos on the work that should be done to replace a seal and yes it doesn't look that difficult. Having said that, I currently don't have my own garage, I know few people that could help me but I would also need to buy/rent additional tools, find a time that work for both etc.
Going with the shop this time is fine, I can get it done quickly and be back on the trails by next weekend to enjoy last weeks before if gets too cold, also I can go back to the shop in case there is an issue with the replacement !

if you gonna take it to a shop to fix..might as well upgrade something while they have your whole front end torn apart.

I would recommend cam gussets.

Got it, thanks. That seems to be a bit overkill for me, I haven't had any alignment issues so far! But I will keep it in mind.

Anyway, i just got back my truck today. For who's interested, It was total of $125 plus parts, not bad. I hope the leak is gone!
