front lower strut bushings shot!!

5100's, anyone else had issues? Only 25,000 miles and they are ripped worse than Xreas removed at 275,000 miles. Has anyone replaced these bushings? Bilstein says warranty doesn't cover bushings and they can't be replaced. OEM toyota show bushings can be replaced. Anyone replaced with OEM? If not, looking for a decent strut/spring combo that won't break the bank with another mini me on the way in a few months. I need 2.5-3" lift. Thanks in advance!

That sucks man. I believe you can press it out with a circular ball joint remover. If you don't have one just rent in at AutoZone. Then swap it out with a factory toyota bushing.

I have a press here at work, just wanting to make sure the factory bushings will fit the 5100's. I see where people have pressed them out on 3rd gen's, but not 4th's. They sell Bilstein replacement bushings up to 2002. Bilstein told me that the bushings aren't replaceable on mine and bushings aren't covered under their warranty.

Anyone have luck with the Eibach struts that adjustable like 5100's?

If you end up replacing the worn bushings, the key to avoiding premature failure is to torque the lower shock bolt ONLY after the truck is sitting on all four tires under its own weight. If you give those bolts their final tighten when the front end is in the air, once you lower the vehicle the rubber bushings will be under a constant “twist” which will wear them out very quickly.

You may have done it correctly the first time, but it’s worth mentioning just in case...Those bushings should last at least 70-100k miles.

A toyota master tech installed them, that said, I've seen him not torque many things I would of torqued so you might be correct there. Just also wondering why they were advertised as OE bushings and when I contacted them they referred to them as "OE style" and were not replaceable. Yet the OE strut bushings are replaceable. I was hoping he'd just say they were the OEM bushings and I'd know I could replace them that way.

And grease the middle of the bolt when you put it back in as well. My KYB lower bolts are frozen to the bushing after 40k miles and 2 very mild winters.
