Front running lights to T/S

My "good doctor", think I have a solution to the T/S dilemma.

The dealer is willing to sell me (at their cost) a set of left/right outside mirrors with T/S lights incorporated in them.
After talking with the Customer Relations Mgr., he told me that after consulting with his parts team, the BCM and wiring would have to be changed as well.
I find this hard to believe as you would think that the wiring going to the mirrors would already have the T/S circuit.
That is they (Toyota) use the same wiring loom for the Limited, SR5 and Trail editions whether or not they have lights on the mirrors.
Or not?

I can almost guarantee you that the wiring isn't there. I have worked on a few other 5th Gens- sp8ball, Kraeken etc. Even sp8balls sr5 wiring is different than my sr5's due to mine having the premium package.

Just makes it more fun to figure it out!

I know I am not a 5th Gen but I do know one way some 3rd Gen and Tacoma guys have made a similar mod. They simply get a micro-bulb and holder, drill into the housing and then silicone in new lamp then run wire down and tap into the T/S circuit. I would use an LED myself and then you shouldnt have to worry about the resistance on the flasher. I will try to find a link to the mod.

Doing a simple google search got me 278,000 hits for Tacoma parking light mod. There have been a few different ways of doing it and I think the newer 05+ Tacomas have similar set-ups to the 4th and 5th gen and a couple write ups on that came up with my google search. I hope this helps.

Oh well, back to square one.
Might pull the headlight housings and add a bulb or LED like Pikeman mentioned.

Alright, I'm on a mission right now!

What if I did this;
Got a couple diodes and wired them into the DRL and T/S circuits?
Mind you I haven't looked at or tested the wiring so I might be going out on a limb here.
OK, determine what wires control the T/S and DRL coming out of the module.
On the DRL side of the circuit (providing they ARE different from the T/S) install some diodes so when the running/headlights are on, they don't back feed into that circuit. Tie the right T/S and running light together and same for the left.
I'd make a circuit box and contain all the parts and wiring in that and wire it up.

See where I'm going here?
Kind of like that trailer light converter but me likes doing stuff like this.

Possible or should I start drinking now......tell me to start drinking.

Well- you like to drink ALOT there, bud.:beer:

There are only 2 wires going to each DRL /turn signal bulb- I think white is ground, left + is yellow, right+ is blue. I haven't tested the outputs to find out what's going on to make them flash, but the magic is happening in the "Turn Signal Flasher Assembly"(secret black box). I DO know from my mod, the green DRL wire feeds a ground into that box to make the DRL's light.
I don't think a wiring diagram for the "TSFA" exists on the forum.

Plug F11:
Green#5 is the DRL ground feed (see my DRL Mod)
Yellow#10 is L T/S feed, Sky Blue#17 is R T/S feed( and DRL hot too, I think). By "feed" I mean + to the bulbs...

Yellow#2 is L T/S from the stalk (signal)
Sky Blue#8 is R T/S from stalk (signal)

Looking into plug F11 (18 prong) it's 1-9 across top, 10-18 bottom.


What you want to do with diodes probably requires access to things you can't get to (inside the Turn Signal box)
