Frozen Cams found during alignment..

I just want to share some advice that was passed on to me by my big brother (12 years older) back when I started to drive and work on cars.

When you go for an alignment make sure all the nuts/bolts/ball joints and adjustment points move freely as most shops wont touch anything that wont come off easy.. There is little profit on alignments and often they will try to upsell you stuff you don't need because they don't work hard anymore.

I will soak my bolts in PB Blast a few days before and then work them all free before going to an alignment shop.. Generally I'll coat them with Antisieze too.

First off let me say,

How the F*** are you CGuava, long time! Are you going to join us this trail?

(composed face) Since im not going to have my truck in Colorado for anymore than 1.5 months longer, could the camburgs or ICON be a choice and if so which one?

I've been good man. Unfortunately, not going to make your trip this month. Already have some plans to take the buggy out. But you guys have fun. Where you off to?

Also, I'd say you're safe to get whatever uppers you want, if you've only got that much time left here, you're not going to do any harm in such a short period. Just try to wipe/wash the joints if it does snow again before you leave.

Megart,
if you are up in the Aurora area you should go to Mile High Mitsubishi and ask for Chuck Erickson this is the best mechanic I have met and he drives a 05 runner he can help you out with alignment or control arms
I am going to have him do my timing belt and water pump
just a thought

I HATE 4WHEELPARTS~!, Gerdo you were right DONT use them!.

So Black 120-

Yeah, but the stock alignment cams are on the Lower control arms.

If they are seized what does that have to do with the uppers? How much lift are you running? I couldnt imagine why you couldnt get the truck close to spec with 1-2.5" lift up front.

Im almost thinking they want to sell you some UCAs

You were right as well, I just paid $1400 to install UCA (dosnt include the cost of ICON UCA), and LCA along with labor. They said, "My tech must not have been clear when he told you what was wrong" REALLY? "To clarify on the frozen cams, you need to get new cams from the Toyota dealer" Thanks, I just paid for UCA's for nothing right? "At least you have nice UCA's" I really want to piss on your boot right now "so do you want us to install the UCA's today?" no, I came for show and tell.

Thanks for reading my venting session :) i feel better

I say tell the f'er to get the torch out and spend some time in the gym. I would take it somewhere else for a second opinion.

Sorry to hear that. But on the bright side, you can probably adjust your coils even higher if you wanted since you have the UCAs. Just have to watch your CV angles.

I was questioning what they were telling based on what I've seen them do on my 4th gen and 3rd gen during alignment. I've never seen any other adjustment besides those cams. The only time i've heard of using UCAs is to dial in more toe or if there was positive camber due to lift.
