Unfortunately I have to sell my 1996 Toyota 4Runner as my job has changed and I am racking up the miles so I need to get something a bit more comfortable with better MPG. My wife will not let me keep 2 vehicles (well 3 as hers is mine as well) so I want to move it on to someone who will look after it.

I have owned it for around 4 months now and I really, really like it but I am forced to sell. For it’s age I don’t think it has high miles (190,xxx) and it is in great running and driving condition. When I bought the truck it had 184k miles. I had a local mechanic go over everything with a fine tooth comb, All fluids, seals, gaskets, filters changed etc. Front brakes and tires changed out. This thing runs fine. My plans where to completely replace the shocks and suspension (with a toytec kit) and put new wheels and tires on there. I replaced the passenger side front headlight and I also replaced the rear seat-beltss.
Pros and recent work:
-good tires all round
-mechanically sound - needs nothing doing for a good while now.
-Rust free
-front and rear seats covered in Wet Okole fitted seat covers - looks great.
-front and rear cup holders fitted
-Timing belt, pulleys and water pump changed at 100k
-steering wheel recovered with leather wheelskin
-Low Range rear dif lock
-Windshield less than 2 months old
-Heat and A/C work well
Cons
- top of vehicle paint is oxidizing, but can be mostly covered with wax
- thats it I can’t think of anything else wrong with it. oh the aerial needs replacing (I ordered the taco whip and new motor)
I also ordered but not yet fitted - a K&N air filter (correct one for this model), Trail Gear Rock Slider Kit. Plus some other small items - fender gasket, new PIAA ultra bright bulbs, door plunger switch. All this will be included in the sale as I bought it for this vehicle.
This truck is very clean for its age (inside looks immaculate) but there are some scratches and bumps here and there, nothing too noticeable. This was my daily driver for 4 months and it’s in good running and driving order, keeps up with traffic on the freeway and is fast enough to get away from the lights when needed. Please let me know if you have any questions or would to come check it out. I am based in the bay area, mid peninsula.
My price is firm at $5400.
