I got a quick quote from a local shop to have the bracket welded on. They were talking about having to take off the wheel, removing the ABS, and hard brake line to weld it on (the backside).
Did anyone else have issues with the brake line and ABS wire?
$350?!?! Holy crap its like a ten minute job including moving the lines out of the way. The bracket is such a good fit that it requires zero fit up. Literally jacked truck up, removed panhard on the axle side, moved/bent lines out of the way, put bracket on and loosely installed pan hard on top position to make sure it lined up, tacked bracket. Removed panhard, finish weld, paint and reinstall panhard. Done.Find someone in your local 4x4 group who welds. I got a quote of $ 350 to weld them on from a shop :-/

The welder welded both the outside & inside of the brackets for strength. Don't know how common or necessary it is but thought it was worth mentioning.
hey there, just saw this! welding the inside is just fine, but you'll need to grind a portion of the weld if you return to the factory hole in the future (not a huge deal.)
I just chamfered the outer face well and welded that side when I installed mine, but I certainly won't advise against more welds!
I jacked it up (frame not the axle so it can droop for more work room) and left the tires on. The brake lines you have to bend a bit out of the way but no big deal. No spring doesn't have to come out. I ran it pretty hot to get good penetration and not weld the inside as there's no room. No problems so far.Looking at getting this kit for my 4th gen here soon. Can anyone offer tips on install on a 4th/5th gen? Jack the truck up, take off driver rear wheel. Does the spring need to come out to weld the back side?
Apologies in advance if this has already asked. For 3rd gens with 3” lift, which hole should be used for the lowering bracket side? Should I use lowest hole?
This will likely be a stupid question, any plans for a bolt in correction kit in the future? I don’t have access to a welder nor any shops around I’d really trust. I assume using the correct grade hardware you could get the same strength as welding? The bar is bolted in already? Thoughts?
