You will have it before the tenth, right now it looking like it will be late next week, for some reason the train did not leave LA until 2 days after I got the release.
I have been updating on the the group buy thread not on this install thread.

I got mine installed:
For those with the TRD CAI you'll want this part to mate the snorkel to the CAI box. It fits perfectly and you won't need to RTV anything (except maybe the little drain hole in the bottom of the CAI): Amazon.com: Spectre Performance 9741 Black 4" x 3.5" Intake Coupler: Automotive
You'll also not want to put the template right on the top of the fender as you'll end up too low. I had to egg up all of my mounting holes. I'd say put the paper about 1/4" above the fender line.

I would still go the RVT route also just to be sure (there is ALOT of suction there).
Funny you say your was too low, my first one was a tiny bit to high and too far forward, so I had to egg the holes down and back. Glad you shared, as with all snorkels I have ever installed (5) the template is always the hard part, flat template on 3d surface and all.
Your truck looks great with that thing on there, and the risers should work nice to keep it from getting ripped off.

You do not have to turn the snorkel intake around, it is designed in a way that the moisture (rain ans snow) will hit the wall and be pulled down and out via the recesses in the head itself. It it is tried and true and has been working this way for many years. I know it may be confusing as I explained, so her ear a couple pictures that may help.

FYI, we are driving ours today with pouring rain...
The FTS snorkel doesn't seem to have the same water shedding setup as the safari snorkel. Can you independently purchase a better snorkel head? Could you even suck down enough rain water that it would matter?
It still has the same chanels, they are just not as deep as on the blown snorkels. However, the safari snorkel heads fit if you want to swap then out.
FWIW. I have driven mine in the rain (heavy downpour) for hours and not had any problems, but I do wonder how much water really gets in since I cannot tell.....for all we know every snorkel we see is holding a gallon of water.

Next time it pours, drive around for a while, check the airbox and let us know.
FYI - the CAI TRD airbox has a drain slit at the lowest bolt point.

I haven't sealed up the drain hole yet. I figure any rain I suck up right now is going to precipitate out of the air flow and drain out of the drain hole.
I figure once the drain hole is sealed the water will still precipitate out of the air stream but then will collect in the box. That could be bad if it fills up because then the engine could suck down a gulp at once.
Have driven it in pouring rain for literally hours, and so far no water at all in the air box, I still wonder if the snorkel body itself holds any.

I suspect a one way breather vent may cure that, I will look into it.
I can put a couple on my next FJ snorkel order and see I we like them.

Just installed mine last weekend and did a writeup on it - on the homepage of dirtroadtrip
I ended up painting the snorkel flat black and it is a good match for the Trail Edition plastic fenders.

Snorkel vs Volcanic Ash ?
The snorkel looks great. How would it cope with volcanic ash ?? I have a friend who grew up in Iceland. I'm going to ask him how the Islanders cope with being stuck out when ash fall hits. I am also interested as I live in western WA. If you like i'll pass the info along in a PM. Regards.
