FUBAR'd my skid royally

Nice repair!

Just in case anyone is interested-
I have been talking with Bud (from www.budbuilt.com ) and we are convinced his 2010FJ skids will fit the 5th gen. runners. He was gonna send me a set, across the country, to testfit- but happened to have a local guy with a 4runner that he will get his hands on VERY soon. Bud has them in bomber steel plate and also alum. if weight is an issue. He does not have them on the website till the fit is confirmed as perfect. I have run budbuilts on my '85 crawler for years- you can slam your whole rig onto them and then pivot it around if you need too ;) - bomber

i dont mind any additional weight at all! as long as my shits covered then its all systems go :dancin:

thanks for the info on the budbuilts i'll be in line for a set for sure!

9"+ standing still, but think about it, when the shocks compress your truck goes DOWN! So if you go up quickly, as you would over a parking curb, then come down hard the shock compress to absorb the force, taking your clearance down, that is why you are suppose to go SLOW over things like that :) If you take it slow you can hold the 9+ clearance. Try it out, go push on the front bumper of your 4R, bet you can reduce your clearance :naughty:

Sounds like instead of double double, you guys were doing what we do...order a black and top 'er up with Bailey's...man I love the Timmy Ho's!

Nice to hear your skid plate worked and you got it back into shape (somewhat). Basically like you said, it did what it was supposed to. Nice to know.

Where are you out west? I just moved from Calgary last year and am going to miss McLean Creek OHV park...that place rocked.

over in vancouver.

no need to go to off road parks here. just hit up any FSR and you'll find tons of trails :D
 
I emailed Bud today, he is currently working on them. Said it shouldn't be much longer. Sucks a curb did that much damage. Nice it was able to be mostly bent back. Im gonna go to anza borrego desert tomorrow and see how atrac and all the trail goodies work. Ill post some pics.

FSR stands for Forest Service Road

i was at the timmies in richmond :dancin:


if you're looking for trails pick up a copy of the back roads map book for bc.

lots of places to explore but make sure you go fitted for emergencies and what not.
