Fuel injector cleaners

Hi everyone. I have a 1997 4runner with 207k miles, 4 cyl manual trans. I getting a code P0304 - misfire cylinder 4. I have rough idle and poor acceleration. However no smoke from the tail pipe and the oil looks good so I guess the head gasket can be ruled out. I replaced the sparkplugs and wires, which did the trick for a few weeks, but now the code is back. I guess the next thing to consider is the fuel injectors. Before I break my back pulling them out and inspecting them, I thought I might just pour some fuel injector cleaner in my gas tank, see if that fixes it. What do you guys think? Whats a good brand fuel injector cleaner? thanks

I'm a big fan of regular Chevron Techron. Serious professionals have recommended I use nothing else EVER!

That said I have recently been introduced to SeaFoam and lots of folks here and elsewhere swear by it as a deeper, faster cleaning. I used it in my oil before a change.

Injectors are not that difficult to replace on 4 cyls, on a Tacoma anyway. I rebuilt my top end a few years back and had trouble with the grommets leaking so had it in and out 2 or 3 times before I solved it. I was able to get the rack in and out in minutes.

I do the three step seafoam treatment (gas tank, vacuum line, and oil) once a year or so. Then use Lucas fuel treatment darn near every fill up. It's really not that expensive if you buy the gallon size and keep refilling the small bottle. Been running like a top for the past 55k miles and I'm at 154k total.

I had the same problem with my 96 runner, threw a code showing misfire #2 cylinder. After many hours of diagnosis and swamping parts it was the injector. Replace with new injector and run like a champ. Current read on odometer is 249500k. Hope that helps.
