It is this spacer, you'll need two.
Do you have the part # for the spacer you used?
I want to make sure I am looking at the correct part.
Thanks

Looks great:bigok:
I know the topic is a bit subjective but how do you like the ride/drive? Handling, ride over bumps, braking etc.???? Is it what you had hoped for?
+1, I'd love to hear the answser to that question too.Looks great:bigok:

I picked up a set from a Trail Teams FJ and the Bilsteins were silver with blue dust covers. I dont remember which year FJ it was though but I would imagine it was pre 09 since thats when I did the install.Stockers are made by Tokico, any upgrade package of the suspension (such as a TRD, Trail Teams, or Off-Road package) will result in some form of Bilstein shocks. They all ride nice. The Bilsteins are just a bigger shock and can handle a little more. The Tokicos offer a very nice ride, and if you'll be on the road 95% of the time you'll be fine. The Tokicos do fine off road as well.
You can tell the difference in the shocks by their color. Tokicos are black. The Bilsteins either came in yellow for the off-road model or red for the TRD/Trail Teams. I have a 2010 Trail Teams here and haven't climbed under to look at the shocks. I'll get under there and look at what color and number they are on the 2010's and report back. What I said above applied at least through 2008 and I believe into 2009 as well.
I'll soon be putting on the FJ (TRD) setup on my 4Runner. Hopefully it'll go smoothly and I will not regret trying it myself.:smashputer:
I think you'll like it. There has to be 20-25 (or more) who have done it. The only negative feedback(s) I've seen are clemsonexplorer who has "something" going on that's not working for him and one other who wasn't really negative but did comment on the stiffer ride. He actually called it stiff rather than 'firmer in a good way'.
I don't know what clemson is dealing with. I suspect he's got a combo alignment/tire and maybe something else too. It's just whacky. I hate it for him, he's trying though...
Point is 2people who have tried it are unsatisfied/semi-unsatisfied and all others seem to think it's a great, super-cheap suspension upgrade that will never replace high$$$ coilovers but makes the 4Runner drive as it should have from day 1.
That "too harsh" ride is why I chose the FJ stuff to start with instead of the Bilstein HD, for example. A firmer ride would be just fine but I don't think I would enjoy a harsh ride that bucks or launches the rear end off bumps. This way, I don't spend too much and I'd guess it is a bit less stiff than the aftermarket shocks and struts. If it doesn't work for me, I can always sell it and not be out much $$.
Where are you guys picking up the used FJ parts? Are you just watching Ebay and FJ message board classifieds? Lastly, if you don't mind my asking how much do 4 springs/shocks typically set you back?
While that is the case with the factory setup, the FJ springs are more stiff and sag much less than the OEM. When lifted, headlights need adjusted anyway, so it's no worse than stock. And finally, IMO if you're doing that much heavy loading/pulling, you really need a set of air bags for the rear (which quite a few have done with the FJ setup only to find they're not needed very often).
Good point. Though, I've found two grown people and some day-to-day stuff in the back make my 4Runner just about level.
