Future purchase...struggling between TE or SR5

I like the key!

Used a key when I started driving, still hope to use a key when they plant me ... or burn me, or shoot me into space, or whatever I decide at the time.

I thought about waiting until they announced the new 2016 T4R. But then it might be hard to get the 2015 I really want. No one knows what will come next year. And if they do, they can't say.

The trend in SUVs is for smaller engines, less power, smaller vehicles and more gears in auto transmissions. Unibody construction is where most of the market is going. Maybe if Toyota reduces the engine size they'll offer a turbocharged version!!!

AM/FM radio with 2 speakers-
No backup camera-
No backup sonar-
No ipod/bluetooth/XM/-

But I want to keep:
The 4 liter V6-
The 5 speed auto-
The part time 4WD-
The A/C-
The A-Trac-
The ABS-
And the Toyota reliability-

Never, ever buy a first year vehicle. You are the guinea pig. ;-)

Best vehicles I have ever owned (such as my 2002 4Runner) were at the end of the model run. By then, they have worked all the bugs out.

You heard it from Blitz and I bet $20 1engineer won't disagree with me. :-)

Agreed, not sure when year end model discounts will start as I would go for it. 6th Gen may require paying near msrp, something I would not be willing to do. Plus I need a new tech to show that it works before I buy, 6th gen is 3+ years:tea:

I say prove it, tell us real numbers to show in today's rates how your going to finance a $40000 car and invest the $40000 cash and come out ahead. Considering that of the $40000 cash you will need to make your monthly car payment. Real number please.

While I would certainly not call anybody a dummy, idiot or stupid for making a decision to pay cash for something, where I was at with my personal investments is I have averaged well over 4% on ALL of my investments (the lowest perfomer being 4.54%) since 01/01/2015. Financing my vehicle @ 1.99% was a no brainer for me.

However, everybody's circumstances are a little different so I don't judge based on what works for me.

Does your nav screen turn to black background at night and white during the day? My Lexus does. A Yaris SE does. My 4runner does not. It's a $2 assembly to make that happen. Shouldn't a $40k SUV have it?

No, but it dims or brightens according to the auto headlight sensor. I haven't had any trouble reading mine.

Weird. Mine doesn't. Lexus has an option in the menu for it, but it's not there on my 4runner. It changes when it switches from DRL to headlights.

Me either. Maybe I am missing something? If you turn the dimmer on the dash to full bright (after the click) it will work as a grow light for your pot plants, if you put it anywhere under the full on click it adjusts with the headlights.

Maybe my beautiful 2015 Attitude Black TE is a top secret Toyota experimental model and any day Akio Toyoda is going to call me and say "Blitz-son - you were the chosen one"???

Any index fund over last 8 years, but the point is not earning to make payments. If one cant afford monthly payments on a $40k car paying cash for it is.... lets call it what it is: DUMBEST financial decision one can make.

What frustrates me is that Toyota intentionally choose to get it wrong. It's not like this is new. Toyota has it in literally every other car it sells . It's a generation old tech. And I mean a generation of people not cars. Other markets get lots of better feature. The European version of the 150 has many more features than even or lexus versions. Like a 6 camera set in both bumpers and one on each wheel well so you can see obstacles off road. I just don't get why toyota stripped down the 4runner so much.

True statement, but my TEP w/o KDSS is called my unicorn for good reason. I still had to have it transferred from the other end of Texas.

Seriously? Do you not follow the market?? If you invested in a mutual fund or ETF that mirrors the S&P your returns would be great! You dont have to even actively manage your portfolio to get those returns!
