Am I the only one that doesn't feel stressed by turning on my own headlights at dusk?
What frustrates me is that Toyota intentionally choose to get it wrong. It's not like this is new. Toyota has it in literally every other car it sells . It's a generation old tech. And I mean a generation of people not cars. Other markets get lots of better feature. The European version of the 150 has many more features than even or lexus versions. Like a 6 camera set in both bumpers and one on each wheel well so you can see obstacles off road. I just don't get why toyota stripped down the 4runner so much.
if you guys start comparing peckers I am outta here!
You probably still try and turn on the "bright" headlamps with the switch on the floor....![]()
:drummer: toucheIs it THAT small? :sadwave: :drum:
Does your nav screen turn to black background at night and white during the day? My Lexus does. A Yaris SE does. My 4runner does not. It's a $2 assembly to make that happen. Shouldn't a $40k SUV have it?
I've overcome that habit by now, but, that's another feature that should have never gone away!

Any index fund over last 8 years, but the point is not earning to make payments. If one cant afford monthly payments on a $40k car paying cash for it is.... lets call it what it is: DUMBEST financial decision one can make.
My 2013 TE does, but I have to switch it manually with the dimmer wheel on the dash. Above the "click" is a white background with the head lights on or off, and below the click is a black background with the headlights on. Mine doesn't have an auto-dimming feature that I'm aware of.

I saved the total cost in about 8 months so I can probably afford it. My income is variable so I don't want fixed payments. And one thing I learned for the recession is, don't get mired in debt. I saw other people in this position and it wasn't pretty.
Show us an actual fund with earnings over the current car loan rate, which is 2.9% at best. Show us something worth taking the investment risk on, like over 4%.
Not sure if the rest of your statement is a double negative or just pretzel logic.
If you can't afford to make payments on a $40,000 vehicle you shouldn't take out a loan to buy it. You have to make a down payment. Let's say 10% down and finance the remaining $36,000. If you can't make $1000 per month plus interest on a 3 year loan ($1100 per month?), you'll lose the car when you fail to make the payments. If you can't afford that, or more likely, you don't qualify for the loan based on other debt like a mortgage and credit cards, you shouldn't buy the car. But you might be able to save $500 a month for a few years and then buy the car when you can afford it.

My neighbor is selling his expensive home he bought in 2007 because his business income is down, due mostly to the recession. He probably can't afford the two car payments he took on to buy fancy cars either. He's loosing about $400k on $1.6 million invested (original price plus improvements) by selling right now. For some reason his house is worth less than it was 8 years ago.
