Gas Mileage for a 1991 4x4 V6???????

For someone who only comes here when he needs help and provides nothing useful to this forum, you have a really bad attitude. We have put up with your jabs of nonsense for too long now. I would suggest you back off a little bit and take the advice for what it's worth. No need to get snippy like a little kid who isn't getting their way.
Consider this a warning.
Believe it or not, we give our opinion to help, not to poke fun at you. Some of it may not be soft handed like you may prefer but it isn't dealt in a harsh manner at all.
If you're getting that horrible of gas mileage I think you have something wrong.

I'm getting 16-17mpg this time of year. I got much higher in summer. I now live in a neighborhood that is nothing but hills, it seems to kill my fuel economy.
22re, 4.10's, 31 inchers. 4.56's would probably help a bit.

and as I said, 16 CITY for a 1988 V6 5-speed with 32's isn't horrible.

bet I get a little better mileage now that my car isn't idling at 1250rpm anymore. The tapping went away too. imagine that...

My all time low is 13.0 mpg. There was a few hours of drifting in the snow on that tank

FWIW, I have a 93' 4x4 manual trans. My Fuel light turns on around 270, a little past the E. (the E is still visable)
I read somewhere the fuel tank is 18.8 gallons, including a 2 Gal reserve, and I've pushed it to sputter a few times. 270 miles/ 16.8 Gal equals 16 mpg.
I've just installed manual hubs, so I may get a few more mpgs.

I try not to go all the way empty... usually go to about 230 miles if it's a crappy mileage run. let us know how those hubs work out though.

This is the first time I filled the tank to full. Usually I just put $20 at a time, but I was at Costco and prices were too good to pass up. I'm hoping to get at least 19mpg, and I've been doing a lot of fwy miles lately.
There are a few things you could look at:
1) torque spec on front wheel bearings(ie repack with syn)
2) used non-ethanol petrol
Comment: Your state might be on "winter gas" which will lower mpg.
3) check your state of tune and FI metering equipment.
Comment: If your O2 sensor has more then 90k on it, change it out. You might consider checking your gas cap seal, ethanol has killing these for some time and your fuel just evaporates away. You might consider going through and checking some of the equipment, per the factory manual set. I've already had to completely rebuild our fuel system and our truck(1990) has 95k on it.

The first winter after getting my T4R, I went to Mammoth. It was practically a Blizzard, about a foot of snow on the last incline up to town. During that weekend we at least 6 feet of snow fell, it snowed so bad they had to shut down the lifts. I drove around town like nothing. Had stock 31x10.5-15 tires.
I finally drove until my light came on. Still 270 miles on winter gas, like 77'911 stated. I have not replaced my O2 sensor, but at my last Smog check my O2 levels were lower than average.

Just thought I would be an ass and mention that if your 02 levels were measured lower than average, your engine is running a little more rich than average

What I thought was the O2 was CO. HC, CO and NO, have a Measured, Max and Average indexes. CO2 and CO only have measurements at the test level. Also my SMOG test is during the time of Winter Gas.
My last SMOG readings only show O2 levels at the test.(15/25 mph). The readings I got were, 0.02% @ 15 mph, and 0.03% @ 25 mph.
BTW what is the Torque Spec on the front wheel hubs?

I don't know the spec but I'm sure its in the manual. I need to do mine anyway.... some water got in the passenger side and now that it gets to 2*F here, my bearings are frozen in the morning :/.
on that note, driving pretty much only in the city, in the cold, and kinda hard, I came out with 181 miles using 14.684 gallons.
care to guess how much it cost me to fill up my tank this time?

$70, i'm glad it's not freezing here in So Cal, but it's almost like that. I hope this winter is shorter than last years.
I get conflicting torque specs on the axle nut. One says 34 lb and the other 47 lb. I'm just too lazy to look it up in the FSM. Another says you need to use a pull scale to see how much to turn the hub.

$40 for 14.684 gallons?!?! That's less than $3 a gal.
I put $20 in my PU today and was only 5.66 Gal.
