Gas should be 5 dollars a gallon!

I think you guys are missing my point. The goal isn't to line the pockets of politicians. Though that might happen, and get abused like every other program. I am just brain storming about how we pay for the deficit. I was presenting this scenario with the idea that the tax would be temporary and handled as intended only.

It's too bad we have to worry so much about politicians doing the wrong thing with tax money. Nonetheless, it happens in every gov't.

I wonder what the gas prices will be in 10 years. 11 Years ago it was .89 cents a gallon. In ten will it be 8 or 9 dollars a gallon? At what price do we start taking alternative means of power more seriously? Maybe I should convert my engine to propane.

What we should do is cut programs and services... I don't have a problem with paying for what I use. Send me a tab for what I use. If my house is on fire, I'll sign an IOU, otherwise, let it burn.

The problem is the administering behind programs and services that lines their pockets.

I don't expect to get any retirement aid when I retire and I'm contributing into a something that won't be there and I have to plan for my retirement now decades in advance. Hell, I'll be lucky if my folks get Social Security, I'm not expecting it.

Programs and services foster laziness and people's lack of ambition to make something of themselves and abuse these services. Why should someone go and work when they collect welfare or food stamps and watch soaps all day? We can give 90% of our income to taxes and it won't fix squat. The mentality of laziness, not "we need help until we're back on our feet" will just keep us continuing down this rabbit hole.

I totally agree with all that. Social Security is a joke. It pisses me off to know that i will pay for it like you all my life and not have it be there when I retire. People who abuse the welfare and food stamp services are absolutely worthless to society and measures should be taken to safeguard the tax payers who earn their living legitimately against these freeloaders.

The point is less then 1/2 the people pay income tax. The majority of the tax is payed by an even smaller percent. The people that suck the most out of the systme pay the least, if any at all. Buy increasing taxes will further burden those that are already unfairly taxed.

How long do you think our society will continue if we continue in this direction. Helping the poor only enables them to continue to be poor, this is no different then providing alcohol to an alcoholic.

There are and more social programs created then ever and the gap between those that have and those that don't continues to widen.

Cutting spending, cutting welfare, forcing people to be productive is what will save us. There are those that truly need help. Those that mooch of the system are basically stealing form them and those that pay taxes.

Raising taxes will only enable this to continue.
