gas smell from filler door

very strong smell every time i stop after a drive. strong smell coming from filler door/neck area. no leaks. don't know why fuel is coming up the neck if it is. that little flap is missing in the neck if that helps keep the smell down. my other truck didn't have that smell. what could it be?

new cap. there isn't any rust here so the tube is solid. i got under to check, dry, no smell. it's all coming from the fill area.

About the gas, I suggest (as others did below) that you FIRST get a new gas cap, then if that doesn't fix it you should get it looked at by a professional. You don't want to mess around with gas leaks.

Also don't let your friends smoke near or in your truck.

I have the exact same problem. Can't figure it out.

Every time I stop and get out, gas smell.

But I can't find a drop of gas anywhere.

Simple answer -put a diesel in it!

try new gas cap first, easiest cheapest solution, never hurts, does yours still click when you tighten it?

Replaced gas cap with OEM. No more gas smell and no more check engine light. Problem solved
