These sites explai how to replace pilot shift lever bushing & seat:

Shift lever pilot bushing # 33548-31010 (green)=$7 CDN
Shift lever seat # 33505-35020 or 33505-35030 (white)=$16 CDN
Note: the 2 above #

don't take your shift lever apart. just grease up everything and slowly slide the seal over whatever end of the lever looks smaller. practice while trying get the old sael off, just remember that the old seal will be more brittle than the new one.

Thanks for the sites and suggestions. As far as replacing the bushing and seat, that was easy, did it before i posted but the problem was the oil seal boot. This weekend I'm going to try and slide it down the shifter stick....but i still think i need to dissasemble it because there is no way its getting around the half-moon pivoting end. Anyways, thanks again for the help.

if you do try to take the lever apart again, try heating up the black part of the lever with a torch. this will make it expand a little, and it'll help to release any threadlocker that may have been used on assembly. also when you start twisting on it, use pipe wrenches instead of visegrips. pipe wrenches grab round things better, and the harder you pull the harder they grab. good luck.
