Do you have some photos of the cut off beam against a wall? It looks good so far!

I tried in front of my garage but I live on a pretty steep hill. I’m trying to figure out where can I find a flat place with a wall without looking like I’m gonna rob the place. I try to figure something out.

Love the way they look but..

Looking forward to seeing them aimed and more thoughts and reviews. So hard to tell from a photo, but I feel my Morimoto LED high and low beam bulbs are just as good, if not better to the sides.

Still awful and most likely worse once properly aimed

Granted 4R aftermarket is not as good as Jeep, but 10+ years of installed base seems like a great opportunity for other manufactures of headlights to jump into. JW Speaker with heating elements would part me with my money pretty fast.

The big difference is that with the Jeep you are changing the whole housing and you are actually replacing it with a legal housing

I seriously doubt the 2021 Toyota update will be better than what I have now. And likely need upgraded bulbs to an already high, or very high, price.

The 2021s will most likely be far better than any of this aftermarket crap as it will meet the legal requirements. That said, in the big scheme of things, LED headlighting is in its infancy and there are very few first gen LED systems that are as good as legal HID systems they replace. Here, we skipped the HIDs entirely, so I'm not sure how good they will be, but they'll be better than any aftermarket LED

Just bought my daughter a ‘20 Honda Civic Sport Touring hatchback with their LED headlights, wow!

On the Civic, be careful not to confuse "brighter" with "better". Honda/Acura isn't known for exceptionally good LED headlights - but here again, we are going from halogen directly to LED.

Try a shopping center parking lot. There is usually a big flat wall with no doors and a mostly flat parking lot.

Take the pictures with front bumper about 25ft away from the wall. Then, stand with your back to the wall at about the level of a car seat (bring a tallish folding chair) and take two pictures - one from dead center and then step about 15 feet to your right (back still to the wall) and take two pictures - one straight ahead and one looking at the car.

Great point. I am not sure why JW speaker is not in the market for Toyota.

I mean how hard is it to make a good headlight housing that provides a good beam pattern? I just drove a 2020 Audi A4 with adaptive LEDs! ow man. The brightest I have ever seen! They project very far down the road. Wide beam pattern.

Wrangler headlights are sealed beam, so you are basically making one big light bulb, rather than making a housing and a light source.

The Wrangler retrofits (depending on who makes them) are most likely legal - no non-sealed beam retrofits are legal - and for obvious good reason.

Thanks for putting these up so quick for us. You can tell that the headlights definitely need to be aimed up a bit. However, it looks like the beam pattern is very similar to the V1 in terms of side coverage with a slight improvement. Bummer, was hoping these would knock it out of the park.

I still haven’t seen reliable beam shots of the Alpharex Nova series but it looks like both the Nova and the Morimotos have poorer lighting performance vs a stock projector with an HID bulb drop in. Looking forward to seeing how the new OEM headlights pan out

I don’t know if you guys have ever been on the receiving end of those headlights, but they are extremely blinding, especially outside of the city on dark desert nights. And that’s in a lifted 4Runner, I feel bad for car drivers. I’m not sure how they even get approved as OEM equipment.

Brighter and wider does not equal better. Effectively lighting up your direction of travel is better. You don’t need to light up 3 miles down the road and +/- 60 degrees to the sides like you're driving in the middle of the day. People out here also think their LED rigid and Baja lights are running/headlights and I wish I could run them off the road.

Always blows me away how definitive people are on this forum in regards to products they have never used. I can’t speak for the Audi, but my daughters Civic has LEDs that are only offered on very few versions, Touring, Type R, etc. they ARE very good with a very sharp and low cut off. I can’t imagine them blinding anyone. Having a teen driver being able to see better is a good thing, for everyone. After owning two Acura’s and a couple Honda’s, they are the best yet, blow away the MDX I had.

If you get a chance could you find a dark area, hold the camera front top center of the steering wheel and snap a couple pics? It's helpful to do before and after but the ship sailed already.

Anyone else dive into this yet. I can't believe they redeveloped and didnt fix a damn thing. Maybe they figured a new label will clear out the excess stock

Do the DRLs stay on all of the time or will they go out when you switch your headlights off?

I'm pretty sure the DRL is wired to something like your injector fuse so that it comes on whenever the key is in the on position. Independent of the headlights.

Hate to revive this thread but question for anyone running the gen 2. Has anyone had the issue with the DRL running out like the gen 1 did? Or is it looking like they fixed it? I want to order a set of these soon and that's my biggest concern.

I purchase the gen2 and though it looks great on the car, but it’s been a nightmare. I followed the instruction exactly. Was not hard at all and simple including putting the DRL into the heated side mirror slot in the fuse box. Upon initial start up of my car to test out the head light the battery light, ABS, traction control, multi terrain, air bag light all came on including the parking brake light when the parking brake wasn’t even engage. 15 mins later the instrument controls and head unit and all the lights went dead but car was still running. Turned off the engine and tried to turn it back on and the battery is completely dead. Went out and bought a new battery and turn the car back on and still have the same issue. Quickly turned off the engine and swapped everything back to stock and still having the same issue. Now my rig is just sitting in my parking spot with the battery unplugged and not a clue where to start to troubleshoot. All the fuses I can check looks fine. Need help!!! Definitely should have went with the kustom54 or the alpharex nova. Waiting on Morimoto to reply back with technical support but I think these headlights has cause me a ton of money out of my pocket just to fix the issues it created after the install

Sad to say. changing out headlights wont result in so many issues. You shorted something somewhere during the install is the likely culprit.

check fuses and look for wiring connections that couldve come loose during install under the hood. I had a similar issue with dash lights and lost of power at one point, culprit was some wiring was chewed up by an animal. I had to solder the wires together and no issues since.

Thanks for the info the help. I figured everything out. I found a ground connection that I never really touched was loose. Tighten that up and that took care of the battery issue. Unfortunately because of it I had to buy a new battery. As for the ABS, traction control, and the multi terrain light, it was because I had the DRL fuse head plugged into the side heating mirror like the instruction and video said. Instead removed it and put it in the injector slot and now have no problem. The DRL isn’t working but it seems like a common problem with DRL harness they gave. Will contact Morimoto for technical support

I’ve had mine for over a couple of months now with no DRL issue at all. The only issue I’m having is the light beam would jump after going over shape bumps. I probably didn’t swirl it on tight enough?
