Gen 6 12.1 navigation update

Actually, I've been quite impressed with the accuracy of the accuracy of the "Wild Goose" POI category.

Compared to a few systems I have used its quite good for an OEM nav.

Um, sure, but compared systems available in the open market place it sucks. In fact, the only thing it does better than a kid with Down's is fit into the dash. (No offense intended to people with Down's or parents thereof.)

has anybody tried to make a "back-up" of one of these dvd's?

I created a backup "image" of mine when I got the truck, in case something happened to it. That was on 9.1. I was also able to image a 10.1 disc and use it without issue. I used Nero Burning ROM to do it.

"backup" as in a downloadable ISO disk image... :naughty:

There shouldn't be any reason you can't, there was nothing on the media to prevent duplication to my knowledge.

buy a garmin at costco for a 149 bucks and get lifetime maps.

and toyota's nav has to be the worst nav system ever.. not big on wild goose chases.

My experience with the ENTUNE navigation has been equally as impressive as my Garmin. The UI is less efficient on the ENTUNE, but the accuracy of the navigation has been spot on. I have used it dozens of times.

A friend of mine has a '12 Highlander with the older navi (same as older 4runner model) and has had a terrible time with it.

am i the only one who doesn't like the Entune display on the 2012+ 4runners? i prefer the screen on the 2010-2011 models.. it looks bigger.. and looks better in the dash

I don't disagree. The Entune display is pretty basic. The screen is smaller and has a pretty low resolution compared to today's technology.

I still think that the Entune is a more functional unit than the upgraded navi though.

Also, don't forget that the Entune isn't an upgrade. It is just the stock head unit in the Limited.

Ohhhh i thought the Entune was the only Navi you can get!.. i didn't know you could still opt for the screen setup that the 2010-2011 models have. all the ones on the dealer lot have the Entune so i thought that was the only Navi for the T4R

got the gen 6 v 12.1 upgraded from 9.1 so looks pretty much the same, some road upgrades and many poi upgrades,,, haven't used it much yet tho

By any chance, had you backed up (ISO image) the 12.1 DVD? If so can you be able to share?
I have 10.1 running in my car. So anything > 10.1 will do for me

Thanks a lot

Can someone please tell me what is the latest version of the Navigation software for the 2014 trail premium, also I don't remember where I read this but I thought the trail edition had some special off road feature in the navigation that had vehicle trails and other off-road features, can anyone else confirm this or am I mistaken?
