Clem thanks for all the updates here they were really helpful. I just purchased the stock size of these from STS white letters out, hopefully ill have fun with them. I'm in central NJ so hopefully we'll be safe and have some fun when the snow and rain really starts to hit.

I think with everything it cost me 900 out the door.

Oh you'll definitely love the tires in the snow.

I only replaced 3 tires since my spare was never included in the rotation and still have complete treads. I kept one with less treads as spare.

I got the wider size so I experienced some rubbing on tight turns but never really saw any damage. But you got the stock, you should not have that.

Just thought I'd add some more perspective with these tires. I had them on my old rig when I traded it in for the 4Runner and I loved them. They handled everything I threw at them without issue, including 10-12" snow, mud and even water crossings. I never had any problems with them, but only had them for about 25K miles before the trade in.

I thought they were pretty loud, even for an AT tire. I had the Yokohama Geolander ATS's before the AT2's and they were much quieter. Now that I'm looking for new tires for the 4Runner, my wife says, just don't get the AT2's because they were so loud (to her). Even though they were loud, the noise didn't come anywhere close to the worn set of Firestone Destination ATs I had on my work truck. I inherited the truck with low treads so I don't knw what they sounded like new, but they were so loud it actually gave me a headache driving around all day.

The next set of tires I'm considering is the Nitto TGs, BFG AT KOs or Michelin AT2s, or maybe a set of Duratracs if I hit the lottery or strike oil in my backyard

Yea i also read they get loud the older they get. I only get about 5000-7000 miles a year from my 4runner so hopefully it'll last awhile but it gets too noisy.

I know this is old post but the thread is really helpful. I was very curious about this tire on the 4runner bc I have them on my Mazda tribute and they are great except the noise level. At about 35 mph in the tribute they really sing. Several of you comment on noise and that is helpful. Will help me when selecting next tire. Currently have bfg long trails. Nice and quiet.

I have this tire in 275x65x16 and they are actually VERY quite, even at highway speeds.

I am not sure why everyone is saying they are noisy.

I put a set of 255/70-16s on my Jeep Liberty diesel at 15,000 miles or so. The second owner contacted me at 90,000 miles and said he finally had to get new tires. That is amazing tread life for an AT tire.

They looked great, rolled smooth, worked awesome everywhere except snow and mud and they were tough as nails while I had them. Plus, the price is hard to beat and they are made in USA. I highly recommend the Grabber AT2.

There are, however, better options in 2013 such as the Cooper AT3. Tire tech has changed a lot in recent years.
