gentex rear-view autodimming mirror... Color?

I want to install an autodimmer with compass, but I want the compass display to match the rest of the vehicle dash lights. I know gentex makes a mirror with temp and homelink that has amber illumination, but do they do it for the one that just autodims and has compass?

Does the "stock/factory" version of the autodimmer have amber illumination?

In my searchings i've seen references to a kit to change the color. How? If someone could describe it to me, I can do it. If it's as easy as changing out some LED in the unit, I can writeup a howto easy. But I fear the display is a VFD (Vacuum Flourescent Display)....

The stock one that came on my truck has a green display. I don't know how to change the color. The display is so small, it really won't be noticeable.

Sorry, that I reanimate this Thread.
But I had the same problem.

I found a solution...

When you disassemble the mirror, you can see a thin blue plastic glas behind the display:

This plate, colors the LC Display in the green/blue.

I took a piece of an amber acrylic glas...

and cut it to the dimensions of the blue glas.

Then I put two little glue stripes on this amber plate and stick the plate on the Display.

On that occasion, I changed the green color of the indicator light, too.
There are different kinds of indicator lights in this mirros. In my first mirror was a rectangular LED. You can change this LED to a amber rectangular LED:

In my second mirror was an green SMD. Easily change the green SMD to an amber SMD!

I have a few questions about how you changed the display color to amber. I removed the thin blue piece of glass that was over the display and put a piece of amber tint film over but it did not have much effect in changing the color. The color changed from a blue-green to a more bright-green. You think I need to find a thicker piece of amber plastic rather than the tint film. I will attach a pic of the display without any plastic/glass.
