George Washington National Forest Trails

Been trying to find some places to go camping / run some trails over spring break. Anyone been to George Washington National Forest trails? What where they like? What was the difficulty? Where there places on the trail to pull off and camp?

I've been around a few of the "trails" which were more like gravel roads. There were more than enough places to pull off and camp, I was through once during spring break and it seemed like a really popular area. Most of what I've seen is basically due west of Staunton but in all reality I haven't rode through much of it at all so there may be some decent trails that I don't know of.

Yeah there are some pretty good youtube videos of jeepers and people in audis (weird) on one called Meadows Knob.

Hopfully I will have a lift by then, but I dont want to get in over my head.

Yea there are a few trails just west of Harrisonburg that are worth checking out. Forgot about them. I haven't been up there in years though.

Someone here pointed me to VA4x4.com. They have a lot of info about GWNF. I'm interested in camp sites too. Me and bro in law might have to head for some easy stuff, cause we'll try to camp with the kids. I think I saw some info about camp sites near the trails. Need to check again though.

Just went to GWNF yesterday. Had a good time. Would like to go back for a couple days in Spring.

I was hoping to put together a T4R.org meet in the GWNF this spring, but it looks like I won't be able to make it. There's always next fall though.
