German Maestro Concept Line Speakers

Hi All,

I got the Low Beam, High Beam and Fog Lamp bulbs replaced with PIAA Xtreme White Plus bulbs recently. The brightness and visibility is much better than the stock halogens. The shop who replaced the bulbs does a lot of car audio work. I asked them what they recommend to upgrade the sound quality in my truck - 2012 4Runner Limited 4WD with JBL Audio. They said the best is "German Maestro Concept Line" - they are a speciality 'speakers only' shop in Germany and makes awesome speakers. Gave me a quote of $800.00 to do all 4 doors and 2 dash speakers. When I asked them about Infinity Kappa (read a lot about those on this forum) I was told that Infinity is not that great compared to German Maestro Concept Line. I know they are trying to sell it so they will say these are the best. Has anyone ever heard about this brand or has any experience with them ? I googled these and only the 'German Maestro' website comes up - not many general reviews etc. Please share your experience with these if you have any.

Never heard of this brand. But I was just talking to a low voltage installer that does this for a living, and he told me that infinity brand speakers is the best in high end speakers if you get an aftermarket amp for them.

If you just want to change the speakers, he told me to go with alpine type R's...

I do not plan on replacing the factory JBL Amp or Sub - just want to replace the speakers IF they will make a better or crisper sound than the JBL speakers. All this is too confusing - don't know why the manufacturer doesn't offer a high end system like the HK in the Mercedes or the Mark Levinson as in Lexus for some extra money. Those who want will pay for it and get it right from the factory.

Kappas are nice for the price

Kappas are good for the price but nowhere near the best. I have Kappas and actually really like em. Little on the bright side but just got a Helix DSP so gonna play with tuning before final judgement. Never heard of German Maestro Concept but them Germans do tend to make good speakers. Price is really low for a German product. Best to listen to them and you be the judge. I think European speakers tend to be more warm and laid back. More relaxing and non-fatiguing. Kind of a matter of taste. In the end, where the speakers are installed and aimed and the tuning (crossovers, eq) will make the biggest difference. Ask your installer how they feel about a DSP. With a good installer who knows how to tune to your taste, I think a DSP would be a good investment.

More opinions

Just noticed you want to keep the JBL amp setup. Cancel the DSP idea. Caution on speaker upgrades. Crossovers and eq on the JBL amp is really weird. Works good with the cheap ass JBLs but may not with aftermarket speakers. Kappa coaxial in the dash worked well for me. Kappa 6 x 9 mid from a component system (did not install crossover and tweeter) was less dramatic an improvement (but still better than stock). Level balance between dash and door get thrown off. Also, aftermarket speakers will play a lot softer. Those cheap JBLs are really efficient and play loud. Nice and not too complicated upgrade is to change the 8 inch sub and add a sub amp that takes speaker level output. You would be disgusted if you saw the 8" JBL sub. Kappa dash and sub upgrade will give you a good return on your investment.

Nice looking speakers

Went to their website. Very nice site. Nice looking speakers and write-up. I think they are worth a listen. Lucky that you have a dealer. $800 for 4 doors and dash is really inexpensive.
