Getting Stuck In the Clay of Albuquerque...

I wanted to share my "fun" story of getting stuck in Indian Clay. We had gone shooting it was about 5pm I decided to play with the traction and stability control just to get used to how it handles. Now mind you i thoroughly checked all of the dirt I drove on before i did, but this clay hides about 6-8 inches under the hard packed dirt. Long story short video shows what happened, and this is a quick sum up:

-I got stuck at 5pm.
-My buddy had his titan with us, tried to pull me out got stuck in soft sand.
-Had my cousin come with his lifted Ram 2500, pulled the Titan out then got stuck in same sand Titan got stuck in.
-He had his dad come with his RAM 2500, got my cousin out by "yanking" him.

Now by this point everyone was free except me...now in the video you can see a little plateau of dirt in front of me that my uncle was going to try and pull me forward onto. However when he was driving to that plateau did not know the clay was in front of my truck (it was dark by this time) and he plowed in the clay right in front of me.

So now we were both stuck. Tow truck came with his flatbed and his personal "Chevy Mud Bogger from home." This thing had a 357 and it was a BEAST. I attached a picture of it. He had to yank me out with 6 tugs using his Chevy PU, and used winch from flatbed for my Uncle's truck.

It looks like you did not have your center diff locked. If you did you would have been able to keep on the gas hard and keep the front tires spinning. With the center diff unlocked the traction control puts on the brakes and forward momentum stops. Also once stuck in mud you may as well just stop and get pulled out. The more you try to get out the deeper you dig in. I would also recomend doing your playing like this first thing in the morning.

bro i had my diff locked. Did you not see the truck that had to YANK me 6 times to come out? This is not mud, its CLAY. I had NO traction. Anyone from Albuquerque will tell you this stuff is legit concrete clay.

Once you are setting on the frame nothing short of 40" mud tires will get you out.

Bet your 4R weighed an extra 300 pounds with all that clay?

Must have been fun to drive on asphalt with your wheels caked. It's like driving on ICE.

I just got my T4R a couple of weeks ago so have no experience with getting it stuck yet. I have been stuck in my ATV too many times to count, Doesnt matter if its mud, clay, sand, or snow, I agree that once you keep on spinning the tires your only going to bury yourself more. First attempt is to get it rocking forward and reverse to get unstuck but if that does not help than you should just stop before digging in further. Shoveling out and placing some boards under tires have worked for me in past but I doubt it would work in that clay. I just wrap the winch around a tree and get myself out but that didnt look like an option either. I also carry a tow strap in my back compartment, always good to have. Time to call the big boys out to the rescue! At least you weren't out in the middle of nowhere.

Actually the worst part was the imbalance! Driving on the road felt like it was going to just fall apart

Get some better tires and maybe a lift. I don't know why you're trying go thru three feet of clay/mud with stock tires/lift. You need to know your limits, no offense. cool video tho :thumb3:
