It was killing me looking at the bumper sitting in the garage, had to see it on. Managed to get some gas station pics, better than my garage lighting... Hopefully, I'll get some better ones over the weekend but I'm pretty psyched with how it turned out! (need to paint the hood now!!)

Wow. I'm usually not a fan of color matched armor but holy cow you nailed it man! Good job. Also, I need to contact Coastal and see if I can get headlight hoops. I fudged mine and had to go just grille guard but this looks so good.Thanks man! See above

Thanks, I was hesitant about going this route, but happy with the result!
I paid a little extra and had the hoops bent so they're tighter than what comes with the kits, I think it was worth it. Brandon was good to work with on it.

3/14 Camping Trip
So the weekend started out as a simple camping trip to a local wildlife management area, so no need to pack recovery gear, tools or spares... turns out that all the gates were closed. As we were debating what to do passed another 4runner friend (3rd gen probably on here somewhere) and two hours later we were pulling up to the trailhead at "Flagpole" (didn't need any of the gear I didn't pack)
Thankfully, I remembered to toss my phone to a buddy to snap a few pics.

3/21 Camping Trip

Solar Panel
Haven't posted lately, have been getting out with the truck a lot which has been a real sanity keeper during these times. Been getting some projects done too!
Not always, but often, I'll camp at the same spot all weekend. With the fridge running constantly and the summer months coming where it'll run even more, I'm always worried about it cutting off (it's set to not drain the battery too low) and I wind up intermittently starting the truck up throughout the weekend, which kinda kills the quiet outdoor vibe...
I don't really need a dual battery setup. While camping the only power I need is for the fridge and then a 12v pump for things that need water. Besides, it wouldn't solve the problem of periodically starting the truck up to keep the battery charged anyway.
Decided to install a 100w solar panel on the roof and a 10a MPPT charge controller in the back where the cover for the jack was. I already had a 4g line run to the back with a distribution bar so I just tied it in there with some 10g wire. I also used 10g from the solar panel to the charge controller routed through the factory wire harness that goes between the back lift gate and body.
After using it for a month or so now, it's awesome! Even on moderately cloudy days the battery is staying at full charge.
Wound up getting another side benefit too, even with having the GM diode on the alternator sense to boost the output voltage, my Northstar AGM was never really fully charging up. This setup is keeping the battery FULLY charged without going down the route of putting in a high output alternator or big 3 upgrade.

Been a while... aside from doing a lot of camping and exploring in the NF went to an OHV park for the first time, Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA). Went in early June and it was a complete blast and will definitely be going back again.

Air bags
Im so bad at updating this thread..
Put some airbags in a while back. When I take my girls out camping, extra gear and 2 people had it sagging pretty bad.
No write up or pics of the install, it's covered in way more depth than I'd write here: 2007 Toyota 4Runner Air Lift
I believe by @J.A.(if that is your site, THANK YOU! it's been a valuable resource)
The one thing I did differently was to run the lines into the cabin so they are on the panel next to the onboard air setup. There's a hole on the floor basically right below.
I did have to source an air switch since I didn't have any luck finding the one used in the link above, scored finding a metal toggle switch, I like the look a little better.

The Kentucky Adventure Tour
Kentucky Adventure Tour :: 1000 Miles of Adventure
After more than a year of wanting to do this trip, I finally convinced a few friends to join and we had an adventure. The plan was to drive down Friday and run the route Saturday-Saturday, giving us 8 days to complete the roughly 900-1,000 mile loop. We started out in Slade, KY going counterclockwise and got to Matewan, WV completing 822 miles, including the hard sections we ecountered along the way. I didn’t take into account how short the days are this time of year (last week of October) and figure we could have completed it if we had the extra daylight, but it was worth it to see the colors in the forest this time of year, was bummed we didn’t get to do hard 11, that’s an awesome trail (ran it during the 2019 Red Clay Rally)
All in all it was an awesome trip! It was the longest stretch of consecutive nights out I’ve had in the truck and was pleased to find my setup is pretty comfortable and works well for extended trips. Some of the non-hard sections of the Kat are just as challenging as the hard sections.
Did a lot of stuff I had put off in preparation for the trip…
New amateur radio (Icom 5100A)
Made a mount for the iPad and phone
Made some limb risers
New rear wheel bearings
New LCA ball joints
New tires (same 285/70 STT Pros)
Fixed my really flexy bumper - I was lazy and didn’t extend the hoops through to the bottom plate, big difference!
Repainted said bumper
Made a dual jerry can mount so I could take water and gas cans
Other oil change, etc. stuff
Tried to at least take the time and grab some pics from my phone, thankfully my friends got some too.
All cleaned up and heading out

Kentucky Adventure Tour :: 1000 Miles of Adventure
After more than a year of wanting to do this trip, I finally convinced a few friends to join and we had an adventure. The plan was to drive down Friday and run the route Saturday-Saturday, giving us 8 days to complete the roughly 900-1,000 mile loop. We started out in Slade, KY going counterclockwise and got to Matewan, WV completing 822 miles, including the hard sections we ecountered along the way. I didn’t take into account how short the days are this time of year (last week of October) and figure we could have completed it if we had the extra daylight, but it was worth it to see the colors in the forest this time of year, was bummed we didn’t get to do hard 11, that’s an awesome trail (ran it during the 2019 Red Clay Rally)
All in all it was an awesome trip! It was the longest stretch of consecutive nights out I’ve had in the truck and was pleased to find my setup is pretty comfortable and works well for extended trips. Some of the non-hard sections of the Kat are just as challenging as the hard sections.
Did a lot of stuff I had put off in preparation for the trip…
New amateur radio (Icom 5100A)
Made a mount for the iPad and phone
Made some limb risers
New rear wheel bearings
New LCA ball joints
New tires (same 285/70 STT Pros)
Fixed my really flexy bumper - I was lazy and didn’t extend the hoops through to the bottom plate, big difference!
Repainted said bumper
Made a dual jerry can mount so I could take water and gas cans
Other oil change, etc. stuff
Tried to at least take the time and grab some pics from my phone, thankfully my friends got some too.
All cleaned up and heading out

Hey.
The outer part is a 4th gen grill. The inner part is a 2nd(?) gen Tacoma, got one off eBay. Then a bunch of fitting and cutting to make it fit. PlastiDipped the whole thing. Happy with how it came out and dig it.
Can't take original credit for this though... Toothless_T4R (pretty sure that's his username) on Instagram has a tutorial of sorts in his saved stories, check it out.
