Brand new steering rack bushings installed. Got them from Wheeler's Off-road.
Big thank you to [MENTION=127339]4Reak Show[/MENTION], really is great have a good friend who's an ACTUAL Certified Mechanic to help with things like this. No fears of things going bad on the highway because of something shoddy me and a neighbor did incorrectly...

Thank you very much. I use Wheelier's Offroad for all the new bits. They're in Oregon and I think that was what I was referring to.

You should have more faith in yourself. Even though it's great you have a friend who's a certified mechanic, you can do just as good of a job as a certified mechanic. It's proven everyday when a certified mechanic f#cks something up on a repair and then the person is forced to go somewhere else to find another certified mechanic to screw it up and then you realize maybe I'm better off doing it myself.
This is by no means an attack on 4Reak Show's capability as a mechanic. I'm sure he's a great mechanic. All I'm saying is DIY mechanics can do just as good of job and lots of times even better than a certified mechanic because they aren't worried about getting to the next job. There's a crap load of DIY mechanics on this forum proving it everyday, including myself.
Some of the most knowledgeable mechanics I know never went to school. They're just mechanically inclined and have wrenched for a long time. So, don't be so quick to sell your neighbor short. He just might be better than the dude who went to an ASE Certified Mechanic School.

I've done everything on my rig myself. I was simply publicly thanking him for being there under the truck. A real mechanic with a genuine love for 4runners is far better than any YouTube video. He's far more detail oriented than I and refuses to let me take any shortcuts... e.g. don't just flush that, are you crazy? Move over, you're just asking for trouble.
He's got all the fancy tools, lifts and torque specs to boot.

Well, not everyone has a mechanic friend that can come over and teach them how to work on their truck. The great thing about YouTube videos is they empower people to be self-sufficient and do the repairs themselves. It's 100 times more satisfying being able to repair or modify your own rig and not have to resort to paying expensive shop fees.
A good YouTube video will give you everything you need to be successful in a repair of mod. If you haven't watched one of the videos [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION] have made together, I encourage you to take a look. We're not perfect but I think we do a pretty comprehensive job of explaining what you need to do and include the tools you'll need, part numbers, torque specs and any special tips that will make the job easier.
The best thing about YouTube videos is we aren't just helping our neighbor down the street. We're helping thousands and maybe one day millions with the videos we're making. Anyway, happy trails.

Probably a good thing you aren't a professional. Then the governing agency called BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) would clearly have a case, and you'd be responsible for Sean's new transmission.

However, in no way was my initial post an attack on you or your videos or a "nanna nanna boo bo, I've got a mechanic friend." It was public acknowledgment of [MENTION=127339]4Reak Show[/MENTION] dedication to his trade and friendship. Not to mention, just inside the house sat his beautiful bride and newborn baby daughter, just home from the hospital yet he found time to help me with my rack bushings... because it was my steering!
As for your videos, I'd tend to agree with you; they do empower, they are informative and in some cases... what not to do! I wonder, will you add a warning to the trans flush video? "WARNING... only got 8k miles out of this repair." Or was the total failure Sean's fault?

I can't believe somebody else hasn't done it yet... I'm so amped to get it done. I mocked it up and I think it's gunna be damn near level, even with my 9 wraps.

Wow, somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed.
Let me respond to each of your comments:
1) When I was doing Jay's TBU, I tightened the brake line connections what I felt was plenty tight being careful not to over-tighten. You're insinuating I would let him drive off with an unsafe vehicle and nothing could be further from the truth. I made sure his brake pedal was feeling fine in the garage, then had him test the brakes a couple times coming down the driveway, and then told him to take it easy driving the residential streets in my neighborhood doing several brake checks to make sure it was stopping fine and not pulling one way or the other. There's no way in hell I'm going to jeopardize somebody's safety, so I take offense to this comment.
2) Your next insinuation is the trans flush Sean and I did for his transmission was somehow responsible for his transmission failing. Sean's transmission isn't slipping, something actually BROKE inside. Most likely the planetary gear people have mentioned with these 01-02 models. We dropped Sean's pan a few days ago and confirmed there was a ton of metal fragments inside his pan which could not be from normal wear. So sorry dude, a trans flush wouldn't cause a structural failure of a gear or whatever that broke inside his transmission.
3) Your last comment is the best. You're not going to have much work fixing any of my screw-ups because there aren't any. You think you're something special because you're a certified mechanic but it's proven almost everyday on this forum how shops with certified mechanics f*ck things up on a regular basis. Certified means you went to school and that's it. It doesn't make you honest or competent. Careful with throwing your shoulder out patting yourself on your back, Mister Certified Mechanic.
4) Sean's his own man and he could choose whoever he wants to help him with his transmission issue. I could be wrong but I'm pretty confident it's not going to be you.

Sounds like 4Reak Show is a better man than you. Let's see how this went, agree on a price for a set of rims you buy from Sean. When Sean asks you for the money, you list off things you helped him with in the past and then put a monetary value on the time you spent with him and don't pay him for the rims. What a great guy you are. Boy, with friends like you, who needs enemies.
Anyway, don't worry, I won't be paying any attention to you or your build thread in the future. This forum is great, but like I've always said, "There's no shortage of A*#holes in the World" and I guess this forum is not immune to them.

Normally I'd ignore comments that are void of any significant facts. But since this is a public forum and I may lose out on a future deal because of your false allegations, I feel it necessary to defend myself... (check out California law on slander and libel.)
Also, I will not drag Sean into your fight either. Quite simply, you sir, have no ideas what you are talking about, you were not there when the agreement was made or part of the numerous conversations since.

I've only had them stripped to the bones after a job like yours as proof. Again, sorry dude but stay in your lane.
Shall I send you my resume? Something like 20,000 hours of hands on automotive repair. Plus all the credentials you're choosing to shit on. How much time do you have? 4 hrs of flushing brakes wrong? Good call.
There's no doubt he's gonna go with you bro. Done STELLAR work so far. Plus the over-the-pants handy is a killer incentive as well as the meat you're serving up on a regular basis.
