Giving 5th Gen owners a bad name

This 5th gen might be up for sale...after a repair or two and clean up. I don't think the driver will be needing it any longer. :ballchain::gun4:

That was interesting. So they killed him in the truck? Don't even pull him out to check for an airway or anything. Never heard them call for an ambulance.

With that many cops, you think they could control one skinny unarmed crack head without having to load him up with 4 bullets.

I'm sure it was justified... but it sucks that people lose their life just being stupid and scared.

Anyway, I do not think I could purchase a car where someone got killed in it. Maybe a rare care I could get over it, like a 1969 Boss 302 or something, but not something common like a 4r.

Read it in the paper this morning, appearantly the guy was calm and complacent for like 30 mins, when they went to switch handcuffs (I guess the cop wanted their special cuffs back?) the dude bolted and went for an "8 inch kitchen knife" in his glove box. One cop tried to taser him but he had too many layers of clothes on. Some weird f'n people out there, no idea why so many of them live here.

That said yeah I wouldn't knowingly buy a car someone got grease in.

He certainly was given the opportunity to go along peaceably. I suspect there were several issues that were involved (drugs, prior felon with weapon or others) that made him think it was worthwhile to try to run and then confront multiple officers with a knife. Was he not aware that they have guns as part of their duty gear? The old "Don't take a knife to a gun fight." seems to apply. My father told me long ago that if an officer pulls you over, keep your hands where he can see them, act courteously and follow his instructions. Recent events likely would have spared several lives had that advice had been followed.

That said, as far as I always knew, standard procedure was to put the other cuffs on loosely first, take the old ones off, then tighten up the new ones. I am just making a guess, but it seems to officers got a little complacent in this; I would never trust the demeanor of anyone I have to take into custody, heck, the demeanor of any Joe Public in general.

This... And yes it's common place to swap cuffs to the transporting officer as our cuffs are our property. Dude was calm for a long time and made that decision to not only run to a vehicle but to grab a blade. He knew what he was doing and his actions are what caused the Ofc's to use deadly force. You can hear the taser, they tried less then lethal and it was ineffective. It's the offenders sole fault for this outcome.

Cool video though, really brings home not to get complacent. When's the 4Runner is released from evidence I bet it's super cheap for a trail rig

Not at all. As [MENTION=82997]flying fuzz[/MENTION] said, it's common. Definitely a better idea to get the new cuffs on first and then remove the other pair though. I carry cuffs I bought with my own money because I don't like the pair my dept issued me. Getting them back is not only a hassle but might not happen so I make sure I switch out if someone transports a prisoner I arrested.

I will say it's weird that they left him in the truck the way they did. He must have been DRT for them to leave him on the dash and not pull him out and attempt to treat/secure him.

That guy would still be alive had he not ran, or went for a knife.

Just a guess, but I would say no to getting reprimanded, but if it is some procedure they did not adhere to, then training for everyone because this could have easily been an officer getting injured or killed from the knife.

So to prevent this mishap in the future, some training. This is of course dependent on the department, for all I know, no one may do anything.

Where the hell is this?? I need to go there to protest and raise hell!! I just got back from a round trip from Ferguson and NYC. I suckle enough money from the government's teat so I can afford vacations like this. I wonder if they have any good places to wheel in the area.....
