Head-Hunting of Cam Newton, Refs' No-Calls Overshadow Great Defense by Denver | Bleacher Report
Seems like it has some legs under it (the tape doesn't lie re: the Brandon Marshall no-call on the helmet to helmet in the pocket), but it also seems like it was written by an obvious Broncos hater.
Anyone care to provide a counterpoint to the above?

How about Brandon Marshal joining the Colin Kapernick bandwagon and kneeling during the national anthem. Somebody should punch both those idiots in the face. You want to do something about inequality, then do something, don't act like an idiot.
Can anyone tell me why Denver head hunted ALL NIGHT!?!?! Denver was obviously the better team going into it, but seriously why head hunt?

The way we play is in the edge. The more the refs let go there more we do. I don't believe our guys are trying to head hunt. They are trying to play football and beat the most physical QB in history.

I don't completely fault the team, I heavily fault the refs. We all know you can't fix it after the fact. Just like the refs screwed the pooch on Oklahoma state yesterday, you can't fix it after. I know they were talking about some kind of penalty, but I haven't heard much anything else since the rest of the games are on today.

2 of the 4 hits on Cam were blatant head hunting, and there's absolutely no reason a personal foul should be off-set by anything else. The Broncos players clearly had an objective in mind and went after it, especially after they realized the refs weren't gonna throw a flag against anyone in an orange jersey.
Is the head hunting the reason the Panthers lost, hell no. Denver managed to get their act together on offense and just put better drives together. Combine that with successfully icing the kicker and they pulled out a gutsy win in what was a very competitive game, minus the missed calls.
The refs really need to be more consistent across the board with how they call games, especially if the league is going to continue to preach player safety the way they do. I was impressed by both teams though, and was pleased with how well Trevor played against a very tough Panthers defense. Can't wait to see how this season shakes out now, looks to be very interesting to say the least.

You also realize there entire o line was playing dirty with late hits. Actually trying to hurt people. It went both ways. It's football.

I wouldn't go that far with the o-line, it was the one player who made a late hit, who got flagged for it as well.
But yes, I'm aware that there were other missed calls in the game, on both teams, hence why I said missed calls. Dismissing it though as "It's football" does nothing to improve the quality of the officiating of the game though.
That doesn't mean that every missed call is game changing of course, and we all have to realize that there's going to be some things that are missed, or just aren't called all the time (ex. holding by the o-line). But if the refs are consistently throwing flags against one team for something, while it's obvious the other team is doing the same things (or worse) with no flags, then it's fair to question the officiating crew that's working.
There's no real point in :deadhorse: though, as this season is shaping up to be pretty fun no matter who we all route for anyway. I'm just happy it's football season finally :lol:

Tons of missed calls on online. This is football. Broncos are not head hunters. Don't care what you say. We play fast. That's it.

They may not normally be a head hunting team, but they were Thursday against the Panthers; the tape doesn't lie. :cheers:

I think the blame lies with the officials though. Once the defense did it and got away with it, they kept doing it because they knew they weren't going to be called on it.

Yep, that was my point earlier. They had a plan to hit Cam as often, and as hard as they could all night long; and once they realized the refs weren't gonna throw flags for illegal hits, they kept going for the head whenever they got the chance. The refs let it get out of hand, and that needs to be fixed without question.

This is how we play all QBs. Watch our last three games against Steelers, patriots and panthers. We rocked all of them with no head hunting.
Our safety hits hard every play of his carrier. Been fined twice. He was not head hunting. He was going fast and Cams head was in the way. Lol.
