I stopped by Shrockworks today to talk about some sliders for the GX. He has two pair just sitting at the shop for the 4R. I have tried to talk my wife into letting put them on the GX, but unless I want a divorce, it is not happening soon. So I figured I would share the information with you. I took a picture with my Treo 650. He also talked about the bumper for the 4R. I saw one they were building for another truck and it look great. Have them make one that has a flat outer tube so it can serve as a step to replace the running board. They can also look at color coding it to the GX. That way your wife will still have a step and it wont be noticeable.

BTW they are taking orders for the 4R front bumpers now. They will get a 4th Gen 4R in next week and start development. Good time to order check out

When I spoke to Jim he also said they will be making sliders for the 4th Gen as well.

Well, you can always put on skateboad tape (friction tape) on the nerf bars (rounded part). I just did that on mine yesterday...works great as a step!

At least from the pics in the link above, i am not sure about color-coding it...it just does not look right. Hopefully, it looks better in real life.

Just pick a color that is easy to match and a big can of touch-up paint...

From the picture, it looks like it's bolted onto the frame. I recommend bolting unless you know someone who is an EXPERT welder.

BTW, over the next few days, i will be moving this thread to OFF-ROADING section.

The sliders are bolt on. I look under my GX today and noticed that they would not work, because the KDSS system is attached to the frame on one side. I would have to unattache the system, then mount the sliders, then mount the KDSS over the sliders. I do not know if this is possible.

I recently welded my custom sliders on my truck. At the local hardware store I found a 3M product that has an abrasive material on one side, almost like sandpaper, that is meant to be applied to ladders, outdoor stairs, etc. The other side is very sticky tape. I don't have a photo, but they look great because essentially you don't even see them, but you definitely know they're there when you step on them. They work great.

Or you could go to Academy or Sports Authority and buy skateboard tape.
