Goodyear Duratecs: Whitewall or Blackwall out?

Agreed this is a big decision, if you're anal about these things, I highly recommend you photo-shop your particular vehicle in both configurations; I happen to have photoshop so I tried it out before I made the call and I'd say it depends a lot on what model and what color of the truck.
Be advised my last vehicle was a trail teams FJ (with the blackout) so for that FJ I chose blackwall out.
However with my new T4R SR5, dark gray, it still has some chrome, plus my black V-tech wheels so it was a tough decision down to the last minute at the tire shop but in the end I chose white side out with the BFG Rugged Terrains and I'm very happy with it...

Since you can't see both sides at once -- 2 out on one side, 2 in on the other.

You'll eventually know which you like best and you can mess with people's heads online in the meantime.

I say black out.

and by my calculations and some interpretation ...

the count is:

Black Out - 12
White Out - 5

but, its 4:1 for white out with pics

Scrubbing white letters is part of the ritual and there are 2 ways I prefer:
1. Comet and a scrub brush or,
2. SOS pads

And when finished you sit back and admire your work.

As I was once told, you spent good money on your tires, the white letters said you are proud on them.

Westley's Bleche White and a plain-jane scrub brush is a much better way IMNSHO Takes no longer than cleaning regular black walls with standard spray on tire cleaner, and cleans the entire tire VERY well...

I had 32" BFG AT KO's on my '99 TRD Tacoma. It came stock with the 31" Goodyears with the White Letters out - so I kept the White Letters out look with the BFG's (have the solid bold letters, not the "outlined" letters).

I opted for black out on the '13 T4R (also with BFG AT's - must be on my 5th or 6th set of BFG AT's by now across 3 Toyota 4x4's!). I could see them looking good on a 5th gen with the white letters out though...

In my humblest of opinions there are many variables to be considered, the foremost being personal taste, then onto things like solid or outlined, brand/size of tire/rim, color of vehicle, proportion of tire size to vehicle/well size, ect. ect. ect.

Personally having done both I prefer a more low-key look, generally achieved by blackout, some just look great either way.

Though the whitewall has a vintage look, and very well may look good depending on the color of your truck, and maybe the wheels, I vote for blackwall out. I have them tires with the blackwall out.

OP I think in your part of NC outside white letters in the default installation in the local NASCAR country tire shops.

I like the look, have done it in the not-so-recent-past, but put the letters inside on my latest set of tires. I must be getting old or following the herd.

Been rocking white letters out since the spring. Swapped the tires shortly after purchasing the Runner last fall and when spring rolled around the shop convinced me to go white out. Thought it looked good on black when clean and new... Now it looks like shat! Blizzaks are going back on soon, but come next spring it's going to be black letters out. There's no way in hell keeping them clean and tidy!!!!
