Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs

I just got a set this summer and so far so good. Haven't really tried them out in too many different conditions. Hoping to take care of that this fall/winter.

I have had a set of 285/75/16 duratracs for about 2.5 years now. I have driven them mainly on road (unfortunately :P), but have also taken them in rocks, mud and snow and they have never once let me down. I would be a spokesperson for Duratracs if Goodyear would pay me haha. I now have a little over 35,xxx miles on them and they have at least half of their tread left. I had BFG KM1's before these and they were great off road but they were loud and rough on pavement. If you are looking for a good combo of on-road drivability and off-road performance these are the best out there in my opinion. Aside from the Cooper st maxx, there is not a more aggressive looking all-terrain tire out there, but I can only comment on my experience with the Duratracs which have been nothing but positive.

Is it possible to run 285/75/16's on a stock rig without rubbing too bad?

oh you silly willie.... idk with your limited... you will rub on the flares a little, hammer those pinch welds down on the back of the front fender and you might be able to. although im not sure they make a 285 75, i know they make a 285 70. -i did this with my rig for a long time, but again i have the SR5, and i was using 17" wheels, so the "bulge" or radius[width wise/horizontal] of the tires at its widest point is further away[in radius from the hub in height/vertical] allowing me to clear the UCA. but i had some good clearance. -durtracs are a wide tire for their given size and have a very aggressive side wall, so you might have some issues, but a wheel spacer would solve that. -you will need one with a lift anyways. i didnt run a wheel spacer untill i was lifted a full 3"

here take a look through this, http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/105400-rescue-runner-build-thread.html -it should be in the first post where i talk about running my 285s and pics of the clearance i had, and some flex shots.

I use bought a set of 265 75 duratracs. They are awesome on the road, I haven't tried them off road, I'm sure they will perform beautifully. The road manners are great and they are completely silent on the freeway and only make a little noise around 40mph. That was my main concern with these, but I'm very pleased.

I know it is possible with some tires to run a 33" without a lift. However, I know from working/talking with jmildoc that he still rubs with 33s and a 3" lift up front. He is running 17" Tundra wheels with wheel spacers, and still hits the front flare.
I think the width and tread of the Duras would make it a lot harder to run without a lift in that size.

Well, we'll see how my current tires do at the beach this weekend. I may be able to convince myself to put off tires and get the lift first if all goes well this weekend.

you definitely need a lift to run 33's. no way around that. unless you are gonna take your front bumper off and not turn much.

I'm not too happy with mine. I have a vibration around 65/70 that shakes the whole front end. Tried balancing them multiple times but to no avail. Seems that a belt shifted in the tire even though I am not aggressive with my tires. Wet roads they spin and break traction rather easy. Don't think I will be buying them again.

not true man, i ran 285s for a long time with no lift... it can be done, yeah limiteds are gonna have more of an issue, but my front bumper was never even close to the issue, it was the fire wall for me. and it all depends on how aggressive you are gonna be with it... most of the rub will happen at very slow speeds so and "damage" will be very minimal, and some minor trimming should take care of the issue. also i know some guys like to disconnect their sway bars, im sure that would create more issues as well, but i do just fine and get around just fine with them connected. and i have broken very few CVs, but wheeled pretty hard.

have you looked at your bushings? if its a belt or cord in the tire good year should replace it as that is a manufactures defect, look into that, i bet you they will replace the tire. are you sure you dont have a bent wheel? is it only one tire?

You just have to get more aggressive with the grinder...then you can make anything fit :D

But really, you do clear everything much easier with a lift. My rig rubs like an undersexed monkey with 33's and 883's and pinch weld pounded on the trails

You should no be posting while intoxicated. Wait actually your posts may be better when you post this way. Keep up the good work.

25,000 miles on mine....still have lot's of tread. great on ice, snow, mud, etc...

Tires are worth giving a try....

(Just because it feels amazing)
so I'm s service writer at Goodyear in Tucson, and there is this family that is "my family? Anyways, he needed tires for his 83 bronco... I got him into 33s with road hazard and everything... for $750!!!! Amazing!! It just feels so good! (Thank you associate discount) had the same size tires all the way around... not to mention how amazing they look!! And it's you guys that helped enlighten me in the consumer side on these tires...rather than the sellers/corporate side!I hope he likes them as much as you guys rave about!!!
