Yes. Small flat area exists (plate system only) at the very back of the drawer system, due to angle of back seats. Drawers cannot run to the rear of plate or they would hit seat backs.

No sir, I didn't take any. Think of it as several "layers" of their wood product, built in concentric circles just like a Contour Elevation Map. These "stacks" of concentric circles are used to build up the areas where there are natural voids created after removing everything down to the metal.
I know this isn't a fantastic explanation, but maybe it will make sense.

I called goose gear to see about shipping the plate out to hawaii. Have to check back on monday, but that may be the issue right there with me getting the plate system. Although I agree that GG products are worth it, the shipping may not be...
In the process of making a slide for my engel 65 cooler to sit on. Even with the GG plate, I would need to modify that for my slide (unless my some miricle, I could use any of the pre-installed holes.
I just pulled the carpet out of my 16, no slide tray previously, and can't see any my preexisting rear holes that the plate would utilize.... I know it supposedly used some existing threaded holes, but the only ones I see are on the sides, not the rear....
Insight???

I'm not sure what to tell you about the threaded holes. Mine were there once I removed everything. They are visible in the first picture of the thread if you look closely. Hey are covered by the seal tape I put down but if you look close, they are there along the longer ridges.

Rather than buy the GG plate, I ended up making my own, at least for a stop-gap solution while I figure out which way I want to go. I didn't have the rear-most holes either (2016, no OEM sliding cargo). For my homemade plate I installed rivnuts in the floorpan directly over the underlying rails for the greatest strength.
Here is the thread where I was looking for any input on the missing OEM nuts
Looks like I didn't post any pictures of the rivnuts I installed, or the Dynamat I installed, but here is my post on my cargo plate after I finished it. It's not a multi-layer piece like the GG sounds to be, but I installed it over the OEM styrofoam piece and it's solid.

Damn.... GG plate may be a definite "no go" for me as the shipping may be more than the plate itself.
Brian is trying to look into cheaper options, but it is Hawaii....
For anyone thinking of getting one, if your 4R did not have the rear tray, there is as bracket that utilizes the rear D-ring bolts... so with or without the factory tray, it is a true bolt-on.
