Any tire recommendations? I'm wanting all terrain - want to avoid big gas hit

Silent Armour or Dueler Revos in P metric if you don't want to lose MPG.

My thoughts on tires
Tires?
Hmmm what a question. Off road and on road. In my humble opinion (IMHO) I believe the Toyo Open Country AT is the best tire for the 5th Gen. Why you ask, well since you asked! The truck or the tire is never the reason for getting stuck (well almost never) I started with the stock tire for about 3 weeks and found an HT was just not likely going to be tough enough or enough traction in some cases, while I was out with a few wheelers from this forum (Easy cruisin' with the Trail - YouTube) I found that the stock tire with the right driver went everywhere the others did because the driver (me) is yes a pretty good operator, however the best part of my driving was only part of it. (Just to be clear we can and will all get stuck). The 5th Gen is a great machine and has some amazing technology on board, therfore I believe IMHO that a good At tire like an open country will get you almost anywhere you want or (need) to go EXCEPT for the MUD, then yes you will need mud tires (MT's). There is no equal that I have found yet for some good skills and a capable vehicle (5th Gen) and a good set of AT's. IMHO. Yes I put my Open Country At's on yesterday and have not used them YET, when I get my BUDBUILT Sliders I will be truly testing these Toyo's for sure. Now when it comes to driving on paved surfaces (YUCK) the Toyo is quiet like the HT from stock, gas mileage went from 8.8L per 100K to 8.9L on the hwy only results so far as it has only driven for about 2.5 hwy hours since installed. I drove through light & heavy rain and in to some dry roads as well and they worked as well as the HT or better (hard to know because the stock HT from Bridgestone was also the same). I have them a 35PSI for now and expect that to be proper for this size of vehicle.
This is a little long winded and only one wheeler's opinion and I promise not to write so much about so little until required. I will keep you updated for more info as tested.:thanks:

I've heard good reviews on the Firestone Destinatination A/T tires as well when considring MPG's. They seem to be very streetable and don't appear to have an agressive tread pattern that would effect MPG.
I may consider these when it comes time to replace the tires on my 11 SR5. They also come in stock size 265/70/17 as well as 275/70/17 which is what I may go with.

I put Bridgestone Revo 2 tires on my 4runner and couldn't be happier.
The traction and appearance has greatly improved and I did not take a hit in mpg. Best mpg was 23.5 mpg on a 400 mile trip to the beach.
I got to test them out a few times in the snow and I was very impressed.
I sold my original tires for $450 on craigslist and paid $692 for the tires shipped through discounttiredirect.
I got the P rated tires. Didn't really wanted the LT.
Check them out.
