Hey, you'll love your adapter. I use mine all the time.
I mounted mine below the HVAC controls, just to the right (passenger) side of the storage box below those controls. Once you get your console taken apart, you'll see a space where the PIE will fit really well. It's tight, too, so there's no rattling around. I didn't use any double-sided tape or any other adhesive.
As for a cable, I used a six-foot (it may have been a bit longer) miniplug-to-RCA cable from Monster that went from the adapter just down the center tunnel to the storage tray behind the shifter. I probably could have gotten away with a three-foot cable, but what the hell. Extra cable is just coiled up and kept out of the way in the tunnel.
I was really intimidated at first at the thought of tearing out the dashboard in my truck. But it really is easy. I got the whole job done in less than two hours, following those Castelluci directions.
