**update**
went today to a buddy of mines shop and after rubbing on some sort if magic black chemical with a large buffer, the scratch is hardly noticeable, you can only really see it if you get within a few inches of the area. And the best part, it cost me all of $0!

I was going to suggest you taking it to a detailing shop - it's amazing what those guys can do. The paintwork on my mom's acura looked pretty much destroyed by my bro's labrador jumping at the doors, but the detailers pretty much made it invisible.

Glad you didn't have to have it resprayed - respraying is a PITA - not only $$ wise, but because most bodyshops don't seem all that good at doing it.
