So here is the story:
I came up to a stop sign that should be a yield sign and as I was looking left to make sure no one was coming and it was safe, I decided to glide through it at about 15 mph as I merged onto the busier road. As soon as I looked right as I straightened out, I see a sheriff coming toward me and of course I think to myself, ****. As he passes me, he has a look that says, "should I pull him over or should I just let him go." As I keep going, I watch him in the rear view and of course as he gets to the intersection I just blew through, he turns around. Then the "****" turns to "fuuuuck"...quietly of course as I have two young kids in the car. As he speeds up to catch me, I know I'm done and pull into a neighborhood. As I do, he switches his lights on. I wave and pull to a stop. So I put my car in park, put my window down, and put my hands on my steering wheel as I wait for the sheriff to come take my info. He gets out of his car and walks toward my window, then backs up a few feet and says, "you have a lift on this thing?" Shocked, I answer "yes." He proceeds to ask questions about what kind of lift (Overland Warehouse, 3" all around btw), how much was it, how was the install, why did i choose OW, etc. Then he asked me questions about my tires (Cooper STT 285/70/17). Where did you get them, how much were they, how loud are they. In between questions, he kept complimenting me on how great my truck looks. Apparently his wife as an 08 4Runner but he'd never seen one look like mine. Finally, he comes over to my window and asks for my license so he "can get me out of here". He goes back to his car and comes back a few minutes later and hands it to me and says have a nice day. So curiously I ask, "so did you pull me over because I went through the stop sign?" He answered, " I thought you knew that. But I really just wanted to talk to you about your truck. Have a nice day!"
How freakin' awesome was that? I never get let off the hook, but this time I can thank my 4runner! Thought you guys would like that story.
BTW, I did let him know that the best place to get any and all info on 4runners was T4R.org, and pointed to my sticker on my back window.
