My 03 4Runner was hit from behind on the freeway, in San Diego. I was going about 70 and felt a big jolt. I pulled over and the guy that hit me pulled over. I expected the worse, but just got the bumper banged up. The worst was the bumper flexing up and breaking the tail light assembly. The car had a Mexican plate and my trailer hitch went through his bumper and grill and emptied the radiator. He got out of the car and ran off the freeway. The CHP stopped and told me it was useless to expect to find the guy, that he was probably an illegal. He took some information, but told me nothing would come of it. The car would be towed away and scrapped. They were not even going to try to find the owner. I'm glad I had my trailer hitch and ball, and it is always there not. If anyone else hits me they will have to eat the ball. There are a lot of illegals driving without a license or registration or insurance in Southern California. The problem is that our government for whatever reason does not enforce the laws. When you drive around here you're on your own. If you get hit, and the other driver leaves you'd better not stop him. You'll go to jail. If you have insurance, then the accident is your fault and you'll pay all the bills. These illegals are judgment proof. The guy that hit me knew that and just left. The car he was driving will be replaced by another piece of junk. This car was riding on three bald tires and one worn out high pressure spare. It only had headlights on one side and the passenger door was held closed with duct tape. The fenders where three different colors and the front Baja plate did not match the rear plate. Under the hood, most of the smog plumbing was gone and there were about 10 empty oil bottles. I don't think this car would pass any safety inspection or a smog check, but here it was running down the road. It's too bad that these people get a free pass and worst yet, I'm paying for it. These cars are everywhere and nothing gets done. A blind man in a police car can spot these cars, every day of the week. I wonder if our government and police are up to.:bash: :bash:
